Hello Forum Bod's,

I'm using vista and I'm having MAJOR problems with V5.

System I'm using:
Dell Dimension C521
AMD 64 X2 3600+ 1.9GHz Processor
1024mb 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x 512mb DIMM's)
250GB Storage (1x 250GB 7.2k RPM Drive)
Integrated Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE Graphics
Integrated 7.1 Dolby Digital Sound
DVD+/-ReWriter
13-in-1 Media Card Reader
Microsoft Windows® Vista Home Edition

My problem is screen "freezing up", after a couple of hour, before it crashes.
On one occassion I was presiding over an engagement party (showing visual effects & videos). Inoticed some of the videos were nolonger in sync the software froze and i had to reboot.
Last week, after 1hr of doing nothing special (just browsing through folders, typing names, placing tracks on the playlist), it froze again.

I've tried closing down background applications (i.e. start-up menu, etc).
Removed certain software (i.e. security check, win explorer), as stated in the forums.
Even tried adding a stronger fan to cool down cpu. NO JOY!

Is it a heat thing or memory thing?

Does anyone know where I can find 'THE SOLUTION' for my computer anguish.

32bit or 64bit vista?

And, try (for sake of testing) to disable that 13 slot card reader

have you tried setting on performance options : fastest, auto latency and unticking safe and over clock ,it is possible that you may aslo be experiancing a hard ware conflict check ur irqs you willl find a guide on it in the hardware forum

maybe your video card is trying to hard to work and is freezing and crying out for help and release. Your video card is standard but may not work well with your computer config for high end video movement.

Yes, Nvidia does work in some setups for VDJ but not for all system setups.

Did you mark the "hardware acceleration" on the video tab? Think it's better that you don't use this.

Sounds more like a rogue program eating up resources. Especially if you aren't doing anything on the computer and it locks up after a couple of hours. (I had a problem like that once or twice.) Also, did you install a totally clean copy of Windows, or just close certain programs? The Startup folder isn't the only way programs can start, so you may have a piece of software stuck deep in your system screwing things up. I suggest if you have a copy of Windows XP to reinstall it on your system. Before you do the install, make sure you go to the Dell website under service and support and download all the drivers for your system and burn them to a CD before you begin.
