Hi all,
My main gig laptop has died and apparently unrepairable but fortunately the warranty is still valid. Basically means I get a new laptop :)
Anyways big problem I'm having now is the soundcard I've been using is a pcmcia slot for notebooks(Creative Audigy 2 ZS). All the new laptops have pci express slots so now it looks like my soundcard is going to be redundant. Sux because its been perfect for what I do and it uses asio drivers. I'd love to get the similar looking xi-fi notebook soundcard they now have released but that doesnt use asio... blah.
Current laptop I'm looking at swapping for only has 3 usb ports. I have 4 devices already using usb not including my soundcard... 2x ICDX units, 1x Ecler mixer, 1x External HDD.
I'm thinking the best option for me is to buy Serato Scratch and use that soundcard for vdj since in my part of the world its nearly the same price as buying a new external soundcard. Benefits I get to have serato software too :) But does Scratch live soundcard work with asio in vista????
Besides that it looks like I'm use a USB hub.... but just curious if this will cause probs with stuff like latency and other bizarre probs that usb seems to present. I'm not keen to switch my drive to firewire either because I tend to share my drive with friends and they all use usb.
Another thing that sux also it that I bought Windows Vista Home Premium OEM and I wont be able to use it with my new Laptop. It comes preinstalled with vista ultimate so I cant strip it bare with a new operating system since I wont have the installation discs :(
What should I do? Its quite upsetting going thru this hassle late into the year when its busy :|
Any recommendations are appreciated.
