Last night after over 20 years of waiting, I saw Van Halen probably one last time.
Actually it was 16 years to the freaking day, hour and minute which was with Sammy Haggar.

It was Roth an company who put on an exclusive flash back concert with nothing but their classic hits, no new tracks, no worn out tracks altered to sound new, just exactly as they sounded back in the hay day.
There wasn't a single moment that wasn't perfectly performed to a tee in infinite detail featuring solos by Alex, who blew my mind and Eddie and never to be forgotten David accompanied with a huge wide screen and an array of moving heads and lazers.
They haven't lost a thing, and based on the pot holes in the road over the years have made the seemingly impossible comeback from personal issues to the typical drugs and other hazards of the entertainment biz. They're right up there with Aerosmith imho for doing the impossible and showing their core drive to succeed and overcome the odds.
"Well it took 22 years, I hope you're happy now" screamed Roth, who on several occasions shared hand shakes and hugs with the Van Halen brothers, it was like a family reunion after so much bad blood, it was sort of emotional really.

If you get the chance to see this show, don't miss it.

it musta been awesome .... i hope to see them for the first time

as a drummer i often wonder if people have any clue how great Alex is .....? since Eddie gets so much of the spotlight ....

i try to find excuses to play my fave "Ain't talkin' 'bout love " .......

yes , gasp , i even like some of the Sammy tunes .......

Always said the ultimate tour would be with both of them, but thats asking a bit much.
I'll take what we got and be happy.

BOTH of them ??? lol that would be great

not sure if there's a stadium out there big enough to hold that much ego ( or fans ) ...lol

I used to love Van Halen, where was that Rick?

Van who????

They must have FREAKIN' ROCKED...Wooooooooooo!! I heard a radio spot about a show they did around here that I missed [:(] and the consensus was that it was absolutely energetic from start to finish!

@chuck, i really miss poundin' on the skins - lost my kit years ago :(

It was at the Fleet Center in Boston, or what ever they are calling it now, TK Bank North Center I think.

Did not sit down for 3 hours, just non stop energy.

They had these 2 blimps on remote control flying around the stadium with the VH logo on the sides, pretty entertaining actually.
I would have added a live feed to it though.

2 Things... the speaker columns on each side blocked the wide screen in places in the nose bleed section where I was, lol.
The sound was pretty poor as I was hearing reflected sound off the far end of the hall.
Next time I get seats somewhere in the center for sure.

well , even if yer in the janitor's closet at the Kotex with wings Centre , it's still Van Halen .....
