I'm buying a video camera this weak and have a nice one picked out... Sony with night vision. Anyway, my question or concern is :
Do I need a capture device or can I run it through USB ports.
I tested the new 5.6 with web camera but the computer has a capture card so I don't know the difference... with or without.

Depends on the camera, if it just shows up as a storage device, then you will nead the capture card. If it shows up as a camera or imaging device (IE act like a webcam), VDJ should be able to work with it directly.

a couple of weeks ago marcel was on a post descibing to another user the gear he used and it sounded real nice with low light capabilities and it came with PTZ ability, if you do a search on tech forum you may find it or pm him directly... hope that helps
