I'm looking at replacing my headphones that went for a swim. I don't have a lot of money to spend atm so i was looking at spending max of $160 AUD Currently i'm using Sennheiser HD 215. I've been looking at the SHURE SRH750DJ headphones. But is there a better pair for the same sort of money?

Headphones and wireless mics are the two places I encourage DJs NOT to cut corners on.

Hard lesson to learn, but the amount of budget headphones you will break or blow the cones on easily adds up to getting a pro pair first time.

See now im on the oposite side of this.. I was originally told by one of my mentors what does it matter about head phones. You just need to be able to hear it, doesnt have to be perfect. I have a set of $20 knock offs of some exspencive Pioneers I used for a while. but lately I have been using skull candy ear buds on an extention. And actually like it alot. I can hear them perfect. And my ear does not sweat in the hotter clubs.
But the major point was no one hears it but you so doesnt have to be perfect.

Trust me it makes a world of a difference if you're playing with cheap headphones and the club has a nice sound system. If you cant hear that you're off beat because your headphones dont have the frequency in range or can't output loud enough for you to hear the difference, then you're SOL because chances are the owner, other dj's in the crowd, or someone in the crowd will tell your flaw. I do it every time when I'm in the club, its a habit now... I'll notice if the dj is slightly off beat. Of course, if you're doing a wedding or some other event that does not require that much attention, then yes, Skull Candies will do just fine.
SO, since you're on a budjet @Novadj's... I recommend the Sony MDR V700 headphones which go for $75USD which is $73.2519 AUD. They are legendary, pretty much a club standard here in the states although the beats headphones are slowly making their way in. I actually do prefer my Sony's over the Beats.

Looked at the Beats, tried them out, bulky and heavy imo.
Ended up with a more expensive pair if V Moda Crossfades, but man was it worth it.

Another vote here for the Sony MDR V700. I also tried the Dr Dre Beats and found them not only too bulky, but they also playback a lot of bass...too much for my liking.
@DJMarioJAX Hey, where can I get the V700 for $75? Lowest price I've seen is on Amazon.com for around $90.

I've recently got a pair of Numark "Red Wave" Head Phones.
A great looking pair of phones well built, comfortable and a nice sound.
For the price what more could you want?

"It's only you that hears them" - at least this is what you hope. A snapped cable, broken headband or poor isolation are among the few potential show stoppers, and you can be sure that there is a link between price and quality - being cheap is often the more costly option in the long run.
For this reason I wouldn't buy a pair for much less than $100 US, for around this price you can pick up decent sets by Numark and Sony.
There's a good group text on scratchworx

I have had the SHURE SRH750D's for almost 2 years & love 'em. They go for $175CDN now but when I got them they were going for $150. I spin up to 5 nights per week. The first pair did break at the swivel (my fault for being a little rough) after about 8 months but I have the 3 year replacement warranty so no worries.
I have tried ALL of the 'BEATs' models & they are way overpriced in $$$ & underwhelming in their performance unless are I was paid by them I passed.
Had the highest end Numark's 4 years ago & the drivers blew after only a month of use. Took them back & actually picked up a white pair of Panasonic RP-HTX7's at Wal-Mart on clearance for $29.99 lol Liked them so much I went & bought a black pair b4 they were all gone. Still use them for back-up & for mixing at home. Granted they were originally $100 headphones.
Have used the high end Sony's & are great, but not as comfortable as the Shure.
Also had a pair of the Sennheiser HD212PRO's from my buddy who is their Canadian rep & were great until the one side crapped out. Sadly they had double wires which are not conducive to dj's.
My first pair of phones from 25 years ago with a volume control on each ear piece a fellow dj gave me are still my favourite ones of all time & sadly I threw them out when the foam wore out. KOSS would have fixed them which I found out later. Still bummed out 15 years later. Can't even find them on GOOGLE. :-(
Spent some more time & found them!

I would STILL be using them!

I made a post about this but I can't find it so......
SIDE BY SIDE BY SIDE DIRECT COMPARISON of the Sennheiser HD 25's against the Pioneer HDJ 2000's vs beats By Dre Pro's. I also wound up purchasing a pair of AIAIAI TMA-1's. Here is my in depth summary of the cans...
Sennheiser HD 25.....
$199
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/sennheiser-hd-25-1-ii-headphones
Excellent isolation and excellent sound. They press on the ears rather tightly but not uncomfortably so. I was quite impressed with the sound quality. Very impressed is more like it. They really sound amazing especially for such a small can.
I was not impressed with the build or the design. I'm not talking about sex appeal but the actual design of the headphone. I did not like that the cable is run through a groove in the headband. Too easy to be pulled out. I did not like the exposed cable around the can itself. Again, too easy to be pulled or to get caught in something. I see the weak spot in their design. The can itself has a little swivel room and thats a good thing but it can snap the arm or the bracket holding the can to the arm. I also found them to be kinda flimsy feeling. Too many things moving around between the swing of the arm, the swing of the headbands and the exposed cable.
Pioneer HDJ 2000's...
$349
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/pioneer-hdj-2000-pro-dj-headphones
The worst sounding of the bunch. By themselves they sound good but in comparison, they do not even come close to the Sennheiser's, the AIAIAI TMA-1's or the Beats By Dre Pro's.
The design is very good though. Isolation is good but not as good as the other headphones. As far as durability, they seem durable enough but the headband is made of plastic and prone to breakage. The swivel has the very nice touch of snapping back into position but it's the actual swivel that concerns me. Although it is made of alloy, it still has many parts held together with screws. screws do come loose after a time and I can see test headphones going the same was as the 1000's. They are more durable than most headphones out there but not as durable as pioneer would have you believe.
Beats By Dre Pro's...
$399
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/monster-beats-by-dr.-dre-pro-headphones
Best isolation of the headphones tested. I was VERY surprised to find the Beat's Pro's to have the best sound of the bunch as well (To MY ear). They are very bass heavy though and I can see some people not liking that amount of bass. When I tried the Beats Pro's in a club atmosphere, I was unimpressed at that time. I later found out that the mixers headphone output had "issues". I did not do a side by side comparison that night but today's testing has changed my mind on the Beats Pro's.
My opinion about the construction remains the same. BUILT LIKE A TANK!!!!! I don't think the Beats Pro's will ever break. They could get run over by a car and survive.
I do not like that the can itself does not swivel left to right in place. They are fixed in place. The swinging arms are just o.k. not great, not bad, just o.k. They are useful but the downside of them is that the can itself has no side to side wiggle so swinging the arm up takes the other can slightly off the ear. There really is no "cueing out one side from your shoulder with the Beats Pros again due to the lack of side to side wiggle.
AIAIAI TMA-1's...
$199
http://www.proaudiostar.com/aiaiai-tma-1-dj-headphones.html?gclid=CNyPoeWur60CFcZM4AodzB1iQA#buy
I own them as well as the Beats by Dre Pro's.
The AIAIAI TMA-1's are a direct competition to the Sennheiser HD 25's. The design is quite similar with small but totally worth it differences. The AIAIAI's do not swing like the Senn's but they are flexable so they don't need to. The headband is a one piece design and the cable is not exposed like it is on the Senn's.
The AIAIAI TMA-1's....Great headphones!!! Better isolation than the Sennheiser HD 25's, more bass than the Sennheiser HD 25's, louder than the Sennheiser HD 25's. One piece design. Virtually unbreakable.
The Sennsheiser's, the AIAIAI's and the Beats were somewhat close in sound quality but for my ear and style of music, The beats by Dre Pro's edge out over the Sennheiser HD 25's and the AIAIAI TMA-1's.
Well, thats my direct comparison of the three headphones. I was able to use and test all three headphones. I was able to test them on various mixers and with various music all with the same results.

Sony 700's break way to easy and way too quickly no matter how careful you are with them or how gentle you are with them.
The sound real good but they break. I have had about 4 or 5 pair. That is the reason for the above post on DURABLE headphones.
