Topic: Does anyone feel limited by VDJ? - Page: 2

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Don't use beatlock, manual sync is the way ;)

Anyway: Beatlock relies on the CBG - it doesn't lock what you have set, it locks the detected beats in sync. If the CBG is out, the beatlock will be out.

Here I go again:

I feel limited by the integrity of the database:

1) I would like to utilize a nice large package of virtual folders, filter folders, and other sub-folders to manage my database.

2) I'm one of those DJ's that play in a small town in 5 different bars that want 4 or 5 totally different styles.

3) However, I can't seem to keep more than 7 virtual folders w/o losing them one at a time randomly, and losing bpm info and date info on random songs all the time.

For those of you who dont know this in order to beatlock or auto beatmatch you have to go in your track settings by right click on the track go to bpm then click on manual edit..this is to adjust the 4 tempo beat under your waveform its usually off the only songs that get it right on most of them is like house, trance etc. but on hip hop and others you have to set this manually...vby moving the phase slider in manual edit bpm to the left or right...on hip hop i set this where the fat dot is on a snare its easier for me to know when to start a song its kind of a pain but its worth it when you want to start a sample loop and make it auto sync to the song you are playing and of course it syncs perfect from one deck to the other...i seen videos on youtube where it says to ignore the dots under the waveform...well if you are an expert on mixing and rather do everything manually then yes ignore the dots but if you want to auto beatmatch and lock your bpm from one deck to another and the samples as well then adjust you phase slider remember if you put the fat dot under a snare on one song then you put it on a kick bass you are not going to lock properly ...you will lock with one song hitting the snare over the other song's kick....i hope i explained myself right. and for SBDJ...it doesnt depend on the cbg its on the Phase slider like i said....play a song then play a sample with auto lock choose a song that the dots dont match with your kick/snare play the sample it wont ever be on beat with the song now let it play and right click on the song that is playing go to bpm click on manual edit move the phase slider to the left or right to adjust the dots when the dots match your kick/snare on the song playing the sample will be in sync with the song as well...the samples play in sync according to the dots under you waveform...try and enjoy!

I don't think I've ever felt limited by VDJ.

The only feauture that I would really, REALLY wish is ordering the browser by primary and secondary categories. For example, click to order by key and ctrl+click to order by BPM as a secondary value.

hum...not sure what you mean there..but if you click on key it will show you the menu by key for example all the 1A's first in my case since i re did my keys following the mixed in key codes, the 1A's will be followed by the 1B's then the 2A's followed by the 2B's etc. then if i click on bpm right after i clicked on the key tab it will show them in this sequence example: key 1A bpm 90, key 1A bpm 91, key 1A bpm 92 then key 1B bpm 87, key 1B bpm 88......etc. do you see the pattern there....not sure if thats what you are looking for. but this kind of sorting will work for me. each sorted by bpm slower to faster then the next key slower to faster then the next key etc ...etc.

Have you tried "Get Food" In the new script language of 6.0?

That's not quite what I ment. What I mean is that the tracks would be ordered primarly by key AND secondarily by bpm.

Like this:

Track 1 - 1A - 122bpm
Track 2 - 1A - 123bpm
Track 3 - 1A - 124bpm
Track 4 - 2A - 122bpm
Track 5 - 2A - 123bpm
Track 6 - 2A - 124bpm

If you happen to know SQL, the exact equilevant query would be:

SELECT track, key, bpm FROM tracks ORDER BY key ASC, bpm ASC

ok thats exactly what i meant that is how it does it....like i said before on mine it would show the B's because i manually fixed my notes virtual dj only recognizes the A's......anyways yes it can set your list in that order on your browser first click on BPM so it can show you from lower bpm to higher bpm....then click on you key tab...that will then change it to the way you want it...i wish i could be able to take a pic of my screen to show u what mine looks like.....i dont know how to post pics

Yeah, that is right, but I think it is kind of confusing to some because in most databases you select the column you want to sort on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.

In VDJ you have to go in reverse order. If you want to sort by bpm-key-genre you need to select the genre column, then the key column, then the bpm column as VDJ will sort only one column at a time as you select it...so the last column selected is the highest level of sort....just think in "backspin" and you'll figure it out!

Whatthayouknow, it works (more or less). Thanks, dude!

Never occured to me to try it in reverse order...guess how stupid I feel now? :D

Well, just goes to show you can learn something new every day :)

ha ha...good im glad it worked for you...cant feel stupid for not knowing some things...we all learn things every day its part of life im just glad it worked for you...enjoy bro.
