Sup Fellas,

Just start it to mess around with Karaoke in VDJ.
Is it normal for laptop to freeze when clicking on a folder with a 1,000 zip files?
Even on folders with 400 zip files, never mind a folder with 4,000 zip karaoke songs (freezes for about a minute or more).
Oh, forgot to mention these files are on a External WD 500gb 7200 rpm HD.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Yes it does take a while, length of time is determined by how powerful your machine is. It can be worrying at times when some one is singing and the deck freezes.
 
Thanks for the info Chris, i just wish that there was a way to have VDJ work the karaoke database/folders just like the music folders.
I have no problem with regular music, in some folders i have as much as 2,000 mp3's and is very quick when i click on the folder.
 
No problem.What the spec of your system just out of interest. On my 4gb 4.2 ghz dual pro it takes 15 seconds to open 100 folders with out any decks running. Longer on my lower 2gb
 
I got a really tweaked dell 1505 2gb memory and 1.8 dual core processor with ati video card (256mb). Med specs but it can do video with all effects like nothing. The only problem that i have is opening any karaoke folder with 400+ songs in it.

Now did you mean it takes 15 seconds to open a folder with 100 songs or a folder with 100 sub folders.

Also my main question, is this normal because of the karaoke zipped files?
 
Create a filter folder for your Karaoke files.

"Click on" (highlight) your karaoke folder, once you do this there will be a long wait or freeze as you have already dicussed. Then when it has "unfrozen" click on the filter folder+ button. Name the folder "Karaoke" or whatever. In the filter section put type=karaoke and there you go. Everytime you click on the new karaoke (filter) folder it displays the tracks immediately. Make sure you have show karaoke checked, of course.
As a side note---when you add karaoke songs you have to go back to your original folder and right click and "add to search database". Again whenever you click on the original folder there will be a freeze or delay, wait it out, but you won't have to renew the filter folder, the new songs will be there.

How about if i want to filter just a specific sub folder not all songs. Could it be done?
 
Yeah just create another Fav Folder, highlight those you want in it then drag them to the Fav Folder. I did this alphabetical by the last name for all my karaoke.
 
You are right I have Over 160,000 Karaoke files and yes sometime it Bogs down but just Use the Search Data base and add to list it will help
