Topic: Alexandra Burke V Jeff Buckley Hallelujah

Hallelujah. Spooky thing tonight. I played out with Alexandra and mixed straight in to the same song with Jeff Burke just where one had left off, probably the best bit of timing i have acheived on the fly. The boss of the venue asked who was the second singer and to my surprise both tracks are 1 and 2 in the uk charts, i hadn't a clue Jeffs version had been re-released let alone the chart status as i did'nt listen to the new charts tonight. So not only was the crowd pleased so was I as this coincedence made this smug DJ look good at the end of tonight. Just wondered if any of you guys accidently mixed spot on and got the X Factor :)

i did but played alex first then on then the break beat dropped jeff in then on his break dropped alex in at the end went down a treat cause of the different asge groups in the pub.must say jeffs version much better

Having checked the new UK charts overnight we have three versions entered, wheres it gonna end the hallelujah chorus :)

To be honest I think it's a pretty dreadful depressing song, and it just shows the sad state of the UK charts to have 2 versions of it in the top 2 positions. What happened to happy xmas records. This X Factor stuff has killed the xmas charts. Steve Brookstein .... Shayne Ward .... where are they now?

Leona was the exception however!

"Remember you said you'd show them all, emphasise the rise and not the fall, and now you sing in a shopping mall ....."

I'm with kradcliffe, the usual Christmas time race for the UK no1 spot has gone down the pan since the "Shit Factor" decided to corner the market, there's never been such a crappy depressing song since good old Cliff. British public are nothing but a bunch of moronic lemmings nowadays.... Merry Christmas everyone

P.S. thank God for Geraldine.... ho ho ho

Aye, Geraldine is hot ..... she would get it LOL

(With a baseball bat!)

ho ho ho.... lol

anybody ask's me for that F N slit your wrist's tune and I'm borrowing that bat of yours, ain't bought it and don't intend to either.

Who cares. To be honest both version are shite, even as a song it's shite too!!!!!!

Halle, bloody lujah, now fcuk off, lol

Have to agree with you. There is alot of crap in the charts on a regular basis since downloads were counted, Rick Astley winning the MTV awards was a Joke and proof of the pudding. Folk seem to dwell to much on the depressing side of life instead of being happy with their lot hence all the sentimental rubbish that we the DJs have to endure at times, however if it pays the bills so be it. At least the QUO gave it a shot this year although that doesn't has much audience appeal yet !

Morning Jimmy. You hungover, spelling a little amiss ;) Bah humbug

you don't like it so don't buy it, it's crap. I would never play anything like that, good ole' Rick had a great singing voice and at least they were boppy and the punters good enjoy themselves to them... ho ho ho

Alright dude, No mate not hungover, was first thing though ;) Just come back from Morrisons, bloody crimbo food shop.

That song was on the radio twice in a 7 miles journey back, once on one radio station, then when I turned over to another on it was on that one. The car radio nearly had my size 10 hitting it, lol

Just HATE the song.

I had a great night in the club on Friday (until some Bastard set off the fire alarm at 1.40am in the middle of the Music Factory Abba Megamix). Once it got going again it was stonking. I never played one xmas song the whole night.
Finished off with 3 old skool classics:
Undercover - Baker Street
EastSide Beat - Ride like the wind
N-Joi - Anthem.
No depressing shite from me!

Depressing? I wouldn't go that far, it's a nice track with a nice vocal for me (I prefer the Alex vocal).

I agree that the whole competition for "Christmas number 1" is dead, and that's probably a shame to some but personally it's something I've never cared to monitor or support anyway.

I'd rather watch the X factor than watch the charts, but both could be deemed cheesy and boring.
