Ever in a bind that you have copied your files on to a new external hard drive
and not in a position to change the Drive letter so it finds your correct bpms, cues, keys etc, because that letter may be in use???
Here is what you do
1. In disk management decide on a drive letter you want to use for external
2. make a copy of your Virtualdj Local Databasev5 and place it on your external drive
3. open xml for editing in Notepad
4. Click Edit, Replace -
5. In Find What - type in original drive letter e.g. D:\
6. In Replace with - type external drive letter e.g. J:\
7. Click - Replace All - may take a while depending on how larger your database is (probably 10 minutes for a 10,000 file database)
8. Save file
All bpms, cues, keys etc will now be read from new drive in Virtual Dj
and can be used on any computer once said letter of external drive is not compromised
Many of us have thought about it, know that how to do it but have we ever???
Well I just did out of necessity.....)
besides it is a great way to have your backup.. ready and waiting.. all lights on go
or to use probably somewhere else.. @ work etc. home.. who knows.. @ a gig on somebody else gig machine etc.
