this is the second saturday in a row that windows won't respond to anything other than ctrl/alt/delete. heres the situation. i noticed again that my windows time and my watch weren't the same. so i tried to click on the start button in windows and nothing happens. i tried to click on the CUE tab on the bottom and nothing happened. if i minimized cue from cue itself it would minimize but i couldn't get it to maximize without opening ctrl/alt/del then click on switch to (cue). this is becoming an on going problem. something is causing my laptop to not respond. i believe its a cue issue because its the only program i run on this laptop specially when im djing. i as i have noticed if one person ahs an issue others seem to as well. so with that being said who has ideas. has this happened to others, if so what did you do to solve it?

who else has had this issue?

go to the left hand side of your task bar to mouse pad right click and see if anything has been ticked. My Cat seems to know more about my than i do as he's always switching things that i generally only use on a need to know basis, turning my pointer off was one occurrence, not best pleased as i blamed the MRS, big mistake, now shes turned my pointer off for a week :)

Sorry i mean right hand side of the task bar.

thanks for the idea but that isnt it. also when this happens it wont allow me to right click, left click anything. the only thing that responds to the mouse is CUE. but if i minimize it with the minimize tab in CUE it won't allow me to maximize it without using ctrl/alt/delete i have never seent his happen ever with any program thats why i'm so stumped.

how about if you use alt+enter to bring cue back up?
I know this doesn't fix the mouse issue but it should bring cue back to the screen so you don't have to restart the application.

Never had this kind of issue and i never saw anything like this ever been posted on this forum.
But: reading these symptoms i'd say it has something to do with your computer. A very random guess would be Heat? Also: defragment your HD and your registry (you can't do the last with windows, try something like Auslogics).

thanks but heat isnt an issue. i runs with a fan pan and never even gets warm with or without it. i play at 3 other spots a week plus radio and private parties without issues. i might be something with the location being that it only happens on saturdays. what would or could cause this on a "location" basis? keep the ideas coming. as for switching yes it works when i use the ctrl+enter or whatever but again its rough when it wont respond specially if i'm using winamp as a backup source.

Reinstall mouse drivers. Location could only effect it if it was a wireless mouse. Have you tried a roll back to an earlier time on your system before the problem? Also reinstall Cue, sometimes MS updates can cause the problem, or a sluggish machine as one of the guys mentioned.

good thoughts but the laptop doesn't hit the internet and updates are disabled. it doesn't happen every time i use cue. it has only happened on 2 saturdays in a row at the same club. i only use the mouse to move inside cues file browsing system. other than that i use my controller to load songs and scroll etc.

oh forgot to mention the laptop is month old with a fresh install of vista tweeked to the bone with only processes running at start up and no anti-virus, networking, firewall, wireless or any other non essential programs installed. its a dedicated machine and never runs more than 50% of cpu when mixing videos with effects etc.

is this wired or wireless?
being a laptop does the touchpad work fine...when this happens?

i use the touchpad. the mouse cursor itself responds moves around but the only thing or program that responds is cue when this happens. if i right click on the desktop nothing. if i click on the start menu nothing. no matter where or what i click on with either button on the touch pad the only thing that reacts is cue. but again if i minimize it it wont respond once minimized to the task bar.

ok well last night i played at my thurs spot for 4 hours without any glitches. this is leading me to believe it is a location specific problem. now i just need to figure out what is causing it at the location. any ideas?

If it has happened at the same location twice then its probably coincidence. If there is no wireless activity ie: wireless mouse, then it is a conflict with in your laptop otherwise you would experience other factors with your laptop and not just the Cue software. Have you reinstalled Cue or used any software to scan your system for bugs etc, done a system restore, used PC Doctor one of many apps which may pick up the clitch, updated Cue if there are any updates available. I had Cue with a purchase of a controller but brought VDJ as it is first with updates and first class advice where other DJ software have failed the customer service test. May be worth biting the bullet and buy VDJ.

Having just read this again, Personally my patients would had driven me to do a fresh reinstall OS etc, as this has been happening for a few weeks. Have you used a backup laptop at your Saturday Gig to see if the problems arises with that.

no i haven't used a backup laptop as this one is less than a month old. my "backup" laptop doesn't have a great video card so i do get some slight video lag. although i didn't have this problem with the old laptop at the sat spot before i upgraded.
last night i had yet another flawless night with cue. no hitches what so ever. tonight is the sat gig so i will see if i get a third repeat of the non response issue. i did realize that i don't us a U.P.S. on saturdays but that will change tonight as i have one ready to get installed at rhe club. will follow up tonight after the gig.

Happy days, lets hope the issue remains fixed.

that would be good but if i don't know what caused it i can not say it's "fixed"
