I'm brand new to this and I have been trying to hook up my audio with Virtual DJ 5. I have a single sound card so I used the Y splitter to plug in my headphones and speaker. The problem that I am having is that I want to hear one song through the headphones while the second song is playing on the speakers. I want to use a fader bar to then hear both of them on the speaker. After plugging both of them in, I end up hearing the same things on both the headphones and speakers. I am very new at DJing and I don't know if I am doing this right. It would be great if I can have some step by step instructions on using the headphones with Virtual DJ.
My Sound Setup:
Input - None (just mouse)
Output - Headphones
Sound Card - Mono Separated
Primary Sound Driver
Others (Realtek AC97 Audio, Modem #0 Line Playback (Emulated))
Output Channels - Master - Right Channel /Headphones - Left Channel

im afraid its not posible the way you are doing things. You need a second sound card to be able to do that.
Some recomended; Hercules RMX, Maya 44,BCD3000, Dj Controll, Native Instruments Audio 4 or 8, etc
do a search for external soundcards...

try this... if you have a mixer
basically if you cant follow the clip
go to config
soundsetup
outputs > external mixer
soundcards > mono seperated
output channels give you white lead/left channel red lead/right channel to your mixer
you will have to use a y splitter for each channel to get dual inputs into mixing desk
which of course will only give you mono sound output

here are some cheap options while you are testing.
also if you are trying to test on the cheap with a laptop, Turtle Beach makes some very cool USB sound cards that you can purchase to create multi channels.

or look on ebay, you should find a cheap'n'nasty version from china for only a few dollars!
I would only recommend these for testing, I certainly would never rely on this for gigging!
