I ran into a couple of TV's last night that didn't have S-Video OR RCA connections. (These are the only to 2 have)

This is a diagram of the back of the TV, (Link Below) it appears my only two possible choices is to convert my S-Video signal to VGA or HDMI?
(Ignore the RCA Inputs they are all audio in) The RS232 Port is for tech support.)

Please, someone look at the connections I have to deal with and let me know if the converter I'm looking at is what I need.

I don't think there is a simple cable solution for this I'm afraid, VGA requires more information than S-Video provides, that cable would do the reverse of what you need. You will need a conversion box of some kind, Marcel has details on his blog I think.

Does your laptop not have a VGA/HDMI out?

All I have S-Video out and I run that into a standard S-Video / RCA splitter and then out to the TV's. These are actually HD monitors which I assume is probably why they doesn't have the "dummer" connections.


 
renee you can get a cheap vga to s video/rca box to link up those monitors, i have one from my pc to the tv's around the house that does the job fine, try american audio or a similar shop, maplins for anyone in the uk that needs one.
 
Tayla I don't think you understand, I have (2) outputs to send video, it's either s-video out into the TV/Monotor OR RCA.
I can't go VGA to S-Video, It's the reverse I need.

I think if you use that adaptor on the HDTV/VGA end it should work.
You have the vga male into the tv and the svideo female connected to the svideo female on your pc with the svideo cable.



A vga distribution amp is in order to properly split for secondary sets.
I use one of these, it stays right on my console and keeps the windows settings active whether I'm connected or not
 
So Rick, you are showing the same converter that I was looking at? It appears to me it's simply spliting VGA Video and Audio and I would use the S-video. I'm lost on the "vga distribution amp" When would I need this device?
 
You have RF you can get a S-Video or composite to RF converter. Since you are already either doing S-Video or Composite to send out the video signal the picture quaility on RF is going to be about the same. That's what we use to feed all the HD tv monitors in our club.
 
You can get an RF modulator.
Normaly used to send TV signals to a different room in your house but it would work ok for this. Most retailers stock them. they can take a composite video or svhs signal and broadcast it on a small antena. Any tv with an RF /ant socket can then be tuned into the signal. Its not the best quality solution but it works.
For a better quality fix we have a company in the UK called Lectropacks who make convertors for just about anything http:/www.lectropacks.co.uk. If nothing else it should give you some idea of whats out there convertor wise.

ive gone through 3 RF Modulators (from Maplin.co.uk) they work, then suddenly stop working. something wrong with the composite IC inside the units.

lektopack dont seam to be carrying an RF Modulator at the moment.

But im sure Renee will find a better way of connecing (through composite to HDMI/VGA) insted of RF.

Here is the one we basically use, take composite and coverts it to UHF or Cable. There a cheaper devices that do the same thing if you want only Channel 3 or 4. But ours is set to channel 85 that way if a customer comes in and wants to watch the game then all the bartender has to do is change the channel.

However I thought you are using a desktop PC? If so you might just want to change out your video card that has more than just a VGA and S-Video out.
 
Renee, that little $2 pos should do it, and it is the same as I posted.
Just member the powered splitter, bad signal looks worse on hd imo.
Using svideo to start with is a mistake imo.
I use all vga and have, and the card upgrade I also agree with unless you are only using it for karaoke sets.

I use all lightweight vga cables and can go 50' without signal loss.
 
You cannot convert composite to VGA with an adaptor. VGA requires 15 pins and a simple adaptor cannot create the difference to create a compliant output, a conversion box is necessary. Or you can use an s-video/composite to RF adaptor like marksmolinski suggested.
 
 
Hi Renne

If your brain is not totaly shot by now I think us guys are giving you three different ways of getting round your problem. all of these will work, you just have to decide whats best for you.

1 Use an RF modulator. (easy to use cheap to buy and compatable with any TV that has a tuner but not the best quality)

2 A convertor to change your SVHS or CompVideo signal to VGA or HDMI. (better quality solution that still keeps the option of using your current outputs if you need them)

3 Change your PC,s video card to one that provides VGA and HDMI outputs( best quality but gives less compatibility with older TV,s/ monitors)

The choice is yours
