For those that don't use scratching much, would you say it is best to set the latency at max. 2048?

What kind of a hint is that? To turn off reading ID tags? That is a worldwide standard every player is used to manage! :(
Virtual DJ should rather think about it's not well designed database. Because XML normally offers an hierarchical structure and the Virtual DJ database engine has no glue about that. Instead, it uses the XML as a very large textfile with 100,000's of lines. For me, I don't wonder about it causing trouble. In addition, ther are many informations missing: The LANGUAGE, rythm style, rating, ...

Good god no, I would still say set your latency as low as your system can cope with reliably. You can always give yourself a bit of overhead as well. Any system should be able to cope with 512 samples for example (11ms) and whilst thats still quite high it's much lower than 2048 which would be laggy as hell with that 46ms delay!

by the way, i found out an solution to make the database save ur data without losing it even if u dont have ID3 tags,
what i did was i kept my id3 tag reading on, but at the end of my analyze, i right clicked on my music folder and then chose "add to search db"
and then the next time i opened vdj, the files stored all the dataa....;-)

But if you had read ID tags for tracks, and your tracks have no such data, they will apear as "lost" or lost song data.
To reverse this, you need to manually modify the tracks in question, by rigth click, and choose update file info.
And for future songs added, you will no longer have this problem, if you turn off read id tags

i have the virtual dj pro 5.2.1 and recently everytime i close the vdj and open it again to use it, i lose some songs data and they have to be reanalyzed,
anybody knows why this happens, because it is really annoying and time consuming to re analyze them again.
any help is highly appreciated. thank you.
