so check this:
i have the virtual dj pro 5.2.1 and recently everytime i close the vdj and open it again to use it, i lose some songs data and they have to be reanalyzed,
anybody knows why this happens, because it is really annoying and time consuming to re analyze them again.
any help is highly appreciated. thank you.

Maybe your XML database has become fragmented
1) Connect all your music drives
2) Start VDJ
3) Go to browser tab, and choose FIX for the database
Also, what OS are you running ? (Vista?)

bogart, i cant access that page for some reason, is there any other way?
geposted Tue 24 Feb 09 @ 11:11 am
ah, if you are "loosing" track names and so on its probably for a different reason, as I posted in the thread Bogart reffered to
Its because you have READ ID TAG on for title and track in VDJ browser options,
and the songs in question have NO such tags, or MISSING tags ;)
ID tags are generally just messy, so TURN OFF IDtag reading...
And make your music in normal VDJ convention file names :
artist - track.mp3
;)

i haveta check bout the read ID tag, i think it says that, but yeah all my songs are written like that format
geposted Tue 24 Feb 09 @ 11:36 am
yeah ....
But if you had read ID tags for tracks, and your tracks have no such data, they will apear as "lost" or lost song data.
To reverse this, you need to manually modify the tracks in question, by rigth click, and choose update file info.
And for future songs added, you will no longer have this problem, if you turn off read id tags

no i use numark ttxs, and i have a forum posting asking what is the best needles for them on the hardware section, no response yet.

Ortofon or Shure needles are both good brands.
Go for one that says it has high output level, such as for example this one :
http://www.123dj.com/cartridges/omdigitrack.html (specially made for timecode vinyls)
From most feebacks here, seems though most Shure needles are working great, without being specially designed for timecode

dont know the numark needles well... sorry..
But I would think they where lower end needles, as numark is more of a hardware company
They are probably allright to use though... :)

For beatmixing any decent needle should do ;)
Its for heavy superfast scratching, that tracking and output level of needles matters a lot..
So for your use, the cheaper needles from Numark should be fine :) No need to invest in expensive Ortofons...

yeah i am not the biggest fan of extreeme scratching, so i dont need the heavy duty ones, althought i might get those at some point if i get better at scratching..;-P
geposted Tue 24 Feb 09 @ 1:59 pm
yeah.. I hear you ;) no fan of scratching either...
All that scratching is making me itch ..hehe
Its ok at DMC scratching shows, but for regular djing, scratching should be keept to minumal in my opinion :) People wanna hear music
