Hello !

Im thinking about buying a new equipment (DMC-2 + C3 USB), is that good or ?

Now im wondering if i can get some help.

1, Can i use own samples in VDJ, do the have to be in some special format ?
2, Which files can i use to play karaoke files ?
3, Do i need something extra, some kind of plug-in or something else extra to play karaoke files ?
4, How is mapping working ?

Thanks in advance!

1) NO. mp3 format is fine
2) Use Audio Grabber (freeware) and rip to MP3+G and place on a separate harddrive from your music. Karaoke has large libraries so a separate harddrive for Karaoke stuff is preferred
3) No VDJ plays properly ripped karaoke files no problem.
4) Your DMC2 will not require any special mapping to work. It come out of the box ready. I've had one for aprox a year - it's a great piece of kit.

2/, got to point out that would depend on the amount of files and the size of your drive, i've got a small amount of karaoke files compared to others just over 14,000 in a folder and they work fine, with two other folders one for gig stuff a mix bag of mp3s and video and the other folder for not often used which are all mp3s, all run perfectly well.

I still think a separate harddrive for karaoke is best. I helped a lady who owns a Karaoke service in twon make the switch from cdg's to VDJ and after we were done we filled a 500GB harddrive with her Karaoke library, 10 years worth of Karaoke Subscription cd's roughly 50,000 titles.

Her song book is Gigantic.

i bow to your experience on that one then marcel... that book sounds as though it was previously used by St Peter at the pearly gates by the number of entries it must have in it....

I don't know about pearly gates but a necklace was involved :P

Thanks for good advice.
I will say that im totaly new in this digital dj-thing :-)

So from what kind of files can i rip with Audio Grabber to get karaoke files ?

I have a few karaoke files in mp3-cdg, can i use them ?

Hello!

One more thing.
1, The sampler that is in VDJ, if i put a drumloop there, will that automaticly the go in synq with the song/songs ?
2, Can i play many samples at same time ?
3, Can i use wav also, or only mp3 ?

Thanks for help with this and karaoke files :-)

If you have karaoke disks, it will ripp MP3+G

If you have normal cd's it will ripp to MP3

I don;t use the sampler that much other than to play comedy quotes or DJ drops.

Someone else will have to help you there.

i use Audiograbber also , it's free works great and you can change codecs too if you want ....

But if i already have som MP3-CDG files, can i then use them or ?
So to get MP3+G i need to rip of karaoke cd´s, is that right ?

Hi again!

Thanks for all help, now i have ordered DMC2 189eur + cm200usb 229eur.
Now i have not had any dj equipment in proberbly 10 years, so i need some help :-)

1, Is there any usb-cabels on the dmc2 that i then connect to channel 3 and 4 on the mixer ?
2, then i take a normal rca-cabel from Masterchannel on the mixer to the soundcard on my computer or ?

Do i have to do any changing in the computer within the two soundcards that 200usb have or does windows recognize this it self ?

Thanks in advance!

1. The DMC2 has only one USB-cable. You plug it to your computer. Think of it as a special keyboard that is made spesifically for Virtual DJ :)

2. You don't need any RCA-cables between your computer, mixer or DMC. CM200 is connected to the computer with two USB-cables, and both connections work as an external soundcard...in other words each USB-connection is a separate deck. The only thing you need RCA-cables (or XLR-cables) for is between the mixer and amplifier/powered speakers.

You will probably have to install some drivers, can some CM200USB owner verify this? After that you go to Virtual DJ's config menu, choose "External mixer" and set USB audio devices 1 and 2 (or whatever they are called) for decks 1 and 2.

Hopefully this helps :)

PS: If you don't already own a legal Virtual DJ Pro licence, you are able to get a big discount. DMC2 is shipped with CUE LE, check the licence number from the CUE LE disc, go to Upgrade to Virtual DJ Pro, insert your CUE LE licence and you will see what kind of a discount you will get when you upgrade to VDJ Pro.

No drivers needed for the C3usb or the CM200usb. Make sure the switches on the USB inputs on the mixer are set to "input" NOT MASTER or RECORD. Boot you computer then just run a usb cable from the computer to the mixer "USB Channel A" and wait for it to find new hardware and install it and then a second usb cable from the computer to "USB Channel B". Now boot Vitual DJ and in the sound configuration set it to external mixer and 2 sound cards. In the case of the cm200usb sometimes in the sound card selection instead of 2 cards it will show a numark usb mixer, go ahead and use that setting. Either way set the left deck to "USB Soundcard" and the right deck to "USB Soundcard (2)" you should be good to go.

I have found ont he C3usb that it is best to use the same usb port for the left deck and the same port for the right deck EVERYTIME you set it up otherwise it seems either the mixer, windows or VDJ gets confused and you won't get sound out of one soundcard.

Suggestions please...

Do we get extra points for being the oldest female dj around with lots of hip hop music?

Seriously...I have been doing mostly wedding djing with Rocksoft program, a Dell Inspiron, external HD with about 20,000 songs, small mixer and several JBL Eons. Do not use turntables or do much mixing. Have 2 wired and 2 wireless mics.

Want to:

Continue regular djing, but with more mixing capabilities and reliable BPM info.
Offer Karaoke and would like to be able to toggle back and forth. Hope Karaoke program would have DB of singers, music they chose last week, personal notes, etc. as well as modification of screen images and streaming messages. Split screen on computer would be good. Would like to be able to export DB info to exce to create songbook.
Offer video on big screen of church, etc. during reception
Have capability of recording and burning the karaoke performances as well as regular audio during weddings...vows, toasts, etc. and immediately give to client
Would like to keep speakers, hard drives and computer...
Also buying some LEd lights and a controller would be nice

I'm part of a 2 generation dj family...my son convinced me to do this...and he uses serrato and/or tractor depending on venue.

So...what software will best meet my needs, and anyone familiar with VocoPro new mixers that support all formats and programs? What about a screen for karaoke...I know nothing about this video stuff.

Thanks...
