Hello all, This is your buddy DJ SMG, I havn't been arround for a while because I have been so busy...
Well I am bringing some questions up again and I am looking to see if anyone has any answers for me.
1) Can I use 2 Decks with the hs5500
What if you connect the second deck as a slave (connect to first deck not computer)?
2) is the sound card any good... One less thing to hood up... (bye bye Maya44USB Sniffle, snif snif...)..

Cannot currently hook up two decks natively.
Cannot use two decks that are linked.
Can use two decks via CD (mp3) timecode.
You can control both VDJ decks via one controller.
Spinning platter works but the sound warbles, not really usable at this time. I have to keep the platter turned off.
Next update is supposed to address all of the above issues. Good news is that the new 3700 uses the same subsystem so I am sure this is a priority of VDJ to get working right... (I hope...)
Sound card is good, no problems with it in XP, had frequent MIDI disconnects (of the whole controller) in Vista.
Sound quality is at least as good as the Maya, probably better.
---
Love the controller, it will be perfect once the above issues are resolved.
I currently use the sound card in my Korg Zero4 - this way I can disconnect the 5500 to play a CD or scratch in standalone mode, then reconnect back to VDJ via MIDI. Can't do that if you are using the 5500's sound card...
Good Luck,

thats not too bad of a translate!
I was curious about that 5500 deck too. It looks pretty cool. I actually think a couple of those might be in my future if it gets sorted out. I have the iCDX as well and its worked pretty good for the last 2 years, but i noticed its now discontinued. I also have the Hercules, but i'm not using it for really anything more than queuing songs and as a dual usb sound output from my laptop.
Hopefully all this and VDJ 6 will be sorted out by the end of the summer. I'm probably going to get a new laptop with windows 7 and battle all new equipment all at one time.. cause i'm a glutten for punishment :)

I'm loving the hs5500 on its own but its been difficult with vdj, I've used it with serato also and hate to say not too many problems and the fact that I have vista didn't affect it over there. Sucks cause I really don't like serato. Im really anxious to see the next version and see if they get it dialed in. I really want to get another one and the've gotten cheaper since there gonna stop making em. It seems that vdj is working on it...at least thats what I read over on the denon forums, their kinda waiting to see what vdj does.

+ The platter is now functional
+ Use of 2 controllers is now supported
- Display is only partially working for one deck only
- Platter is not working on second deck
Not really usable in this state.
It appears that part of the issue is making changes to the hardware configuration file. This is different then the MIDI scripting we have access to, these files are embedded into the program and cannot be accessed by users.
I think when they get it all done the 5500 will be one of the best controllers to use with VDJ.
While I know they are real busy trying to make everyone happy, they have pretty much ceased to give us 5500 users any status updates at all. I am trying to use this software with a natively supported controller to earn a living - some sort of updates would be appreciated. At this point I am seriously considering biting the bullet and going the whole Macbook/Serato route if there isn't some sort of feedback soon from the company.

i now have 2 but I'm using em with timecode on usb sticks. They work great this way, but I may start leaning to using em stand alone with a key board. I like having the computer; easier to visually mix, search library faster, use effects, set cues...yada, yada, yada. I also have serato and sl1 but you can only use 6 samples over there, I use alot of samples and effects when I spin. Both programs have hiccuped on me.Having my computer freeze up just once with a crowd full of people partying SUCKS!
For now I have one channel on each player for timecode, and the other channel of each on a seperate channel on the mixer ( with internal drives on both players...overkill...maybe...better safe than sorry.
I am starting to build my video collection and I would love to use midi for both and take out the sound card and still have all the features of these great players.
I am confidant cstoll and the other guys working on the denon issues will ultimately get it figured out.
