Hi gang. I need a recommendation for an Internal Soundcard where Timecode Cds can be utilized and Windows XP.

Thanks.

It's a pretty safe bet to say that you're not going to find an internal soundcard suitable for TCCD usage.

This is because such soundcard would require at least 8 RCA-connectors, which simply won't fit in a standard PCI-card bracket. Any internal soundcard that has the suitable connectors utilizes an external breakout box for the connectors, which beats the purpose of having an internal soundcard instead of just getting an USB/Firewire audio-interface.

I'm told the reason why we "the club" can't use a USB card is because there would not be enough bandwidth. I don't quiet understand but that is the reason I was given.

The computer has 2 onboard USB ports on front and a 4-port USB hub was added. I used to have my VCI on one of the onboard ports, a harddrive, and on one of the 4-ports another harddrive. What was happening was the harddrive on the 4 port kept getting disconnected. They say usb bandwidth was the issue so they think that with all the devices plugged up we would have issues with one of the devices because of bandwidth. Does this sound right to you?

I'm a "trial and error" guy...I try it if it doesn't work back the drawing board. I understand not wanting to spend $500 on a soundcard that might not work with everything plugged in or the other external devices not working correctly.

Have a look a these from M-audio.

They may help you, sorry if they don't

I have just one thing to say: Firewire ;)

If the computer has only 2 USB ports available then its either a laptop or really old..
If it has an extra PCI slot you can pop in a USB card which will add another 3 or 4 USB ports. (which is a much better idea then a hub!)
