When I record my mix via VDJ, the signal is way too hot. The recording comes out distorted (sounds like sh*t).
I don't see where I can adjust the signal or maybe i'm looking in the wrong place.
I record straight from the laptop using the internal soundcard. VDJ seems to have no settings for this or again, maybe i'm looking in the wrong place.
How can I adjust the record level?
If you need any info from me...just ask and it will be provided.

Maybe your recording input supports microphone input only and not line input. It's like trying to connect CDJ's to a phono input on your mixer, it applies a preamp and distorts the signal.
You can change the level using windows' sound controls. Rightclick the speaker icon on your taskbar and select recording devices.

I did not think a line in would make a difference. I am not using a mixer, controller, cd player or anything at all. I just open my laptop, open VDJ, (using the internal VDJ mixer), hit record in VDJ and spin my music.
How can I tone down the signal strength? Like I said, the signal is real loud and all recordings come out distorted.
If I sound like a dunce...Sorry about that.

Ah ok, I thought you were using an external mixer. Under Virtual DJ's record tab, if you enter the config what is it currently set at, it should be Master. Beyond that I don't think it's possible to adjust the volume although it should be recording exactly what it's playing.

Try going to your control panel-then open sound and audio devices. open that then open the audio tab. and turn the slider down on recording control. I use a external sound card, so not sure if that will work, but give it a try.
