Topic: HELP: Video Drag only for certain files eg.(ntsc)

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hello,

When I rip or d/l certain files, open them in VDJ 5.2.1, it plays really slow and the audio is very distorted, like the video is dragging extremely SLOW!!!
I see it happening mostly to files with the ntsc format, must I install a plugin to resolve this issue or must I re-convert these .vob to another admissible format to play in Virtual DJ.

Below is a typical file structure which gives the dragging issue.

How do they play outside of Virtual DJ?

I'm assuming you are taking the original VOB and converting it to MPG, which isn't really necessary since VOB is just a container for the mpg file. I'm thinking there might be something going wrong with your conversion process. The above screen shot shows 25FPS where NTSC is usually 29.97FPS where PAL uses 25FPS. Looks like your software is trying to convert the original NTSC to PAL as well.

VirtualDJ should play a PAL or NTSC vob with no problems.

Exactly...... why convert anything?

All of these files were either downloaded or ripped using dvd decrypter, only these vobs I'm having an issue with.
The recourse to this is to re-encode these files using eRightSoft but I'm querying if VDJ needs a specific codec to resolve this problem.

streaming, have you tried magic video converter... good results and fast

I also use Super 2008, Build 32 from eRightSoft to convert my .VOB Files to have smaller MPG2 Files and have no problem with this. I must said that VirtualDJ play without problem .VOB or convertet MPG Files. The .VOB Files are ripped with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0.

1. Output Container: mpg --> 2. Output Video Codec: MPEG- II --> 3. Output Audio Codec: MP3

Video no change 25 frames/s Bitrate kbps 2496

Audio 44.100 2 channels Bitrate kbps 224

The only codec you should need for VOB files is an MPEG2 codec, if you have Vista is comes with a MPEG2 decoder.

Also, looking at the file it has two audio streams you should only need one audio stream for playback in Virtual DJ, this could be part of the audio distortion you are talking about. Also removing the un-needed audio streams will make the output VOB file smaller.

Use TopHouse's blog on how to setup DVD Decrypter to select which audio stream to output to the VOB file.

I'm assuming that when you are using Super "eRightSoft" to re-encode the files they playback correctly?

If so what format are you re-encoding them to?

Once I use Super, I have absolutely no issues as the user has tons of options for encoding and re-encoding files. The problem I'm having is subjected to specific files which I d/l from a video service or .ISO which I rip with DVD Decrypter.

Below is a screenshot of DVD Decrypter with how I rip the .ISO files.

What I am avoiding is the teadious assignment to re-encode all these files which I'm having issues with, must I upload just one of these files to a specific user to see if this problem is isolated to me ????

I guess based on the repsonses that I have received thus far, leaves me with the only option of using Super to re-encode them. :(
