Hello,
For me the best of all times is NOD 32 from ESET (www.eset.com) ... This is the only one antivirus that has won the last 10 years of Virus Bulletin Virus on the Wild tests.
My Gig combination is Command Antivirus (from Authentium, www.athentium.com) that is the fastest antivirus (and the lightest) and the only one that caught virus on real time (All that it recognize as virus in a manual scan, could be caught in real time). And I use Nod32 (not in real time) to scan once a week my PC.
I don't trust if I don't have any antivirus in a PC, cause there is always a risk if someone need something that you have to play or see and it's in a USB Flash Memory or even a burned CD.
Also you can use SPYBOT (search & Destroy) to check for malware and other stuff that aren't virus but spyware, and eliminate from Windows Register what could be a threat.

Used to use McAfee but a year ago a virus got past it on 2 of my non-DJ machines that had just downloaded and installed the latest virus updates. I now use Kapersky. It is lightwieght, effective and can be disabled with simple mouse click. It is far superior to McAfee. No issues with Virtual DJ after a year. I turn it off when I DJ. If I need to load something during a gig I turn it on to protect the PC.
I have been a System Admin for nearly a decade and it is extremely foolish to run a computer without any anti-virus. All it takes is one infected file from a camera, usb drive, even a CD to destroy your system.

I use Webroot Antivirus. It doesnt seem to use any noticeable CPU. It can find and repair all kinds of "bad" stuff. It also has a "gamer mode" that is easy to switch off and on(I forgot to use).
