Topic: end of my tether regarding, jumps skips etc...tried everything

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

i've had Dj Console RMX, with virtual DJ5 DJC edition for a month now, i have tried every possible thing to stop the music from skipping when being played out and to no avail!
I've got the following.....

Dell Studio 1735 T8100 with a processor speed of 2.1Ghz , intel core 2 Duo
500gb hard drive (2x250gb) @ 5400rpm
4gb of RAM
10/100 LAN Card
256mb dedicated graphics card
Vista Home Premium
Works 9
4 x USB 2.0 Compliant ports

Virtual DJ 5 DJC edition for PC Version 1.0
DJ console rmx (package is 1.HDJS.2008)
Firmware 1.0.6.28,
Driver is 4.3.0.0
DJ API is 2.0.17.1
CPL is 2.0.1.7

Thats my hardware spec. this is what i'm doing for a set up....
Running the console rmx off a powered USB 2.0 hub
Laptop is plugged in, not battery opperated
Wi-fi and blutooth are disabled
McAfee Firewall is locked down
I've gone into services and disabled windows search
ive changed the laptop to run in HIGH PERFORMANCE mode
Changed the performance in SYSTEM PROPERTIES from best appearance to best performance
Put the Virtual DJ and driver software onto the main hard drive and all my music (200gbs!) onto the other hard drive
Running it as ASIO 44100hz 16bit 480 (10ms) as it wont let me change it to anything else. When i go into virtual dj, whatever config i've put into it, it changes it back to the above mentioned settings.
I've tried putting music onto external USB sticks and playing them sourced from there rather than the internal hard drive but still skipping.
I've closed down unwanted programmes (i.e. webcam, printer, dell support, dell quickset, google desktop etc)

All my music is MP3 at 128kps to 256 kps maximum

When i run the system monitor its averaging at 5 to 15%, when i load up the cueing deck, this jumps to 60% then back down once it's loaded.
Mem V is using 1.1gb of its 7.17gb available
mem P is using 1.1gb of the 3.44gb available

I'm a professional DJ and as yet, cannot use this out. The one time i did, was embarrasing as every track was jumping/skipping.
To say this is frustrating is a massive understatement....i'm this close to wrapping the whole thing round a punters head!!

What am i missing? What am i doing wrong? I've tried every known thing i know to get the laptop running at it's best and i'm still at square one.
I've uninstalled itunes, realplayer and all the webcam software..

Can anybody offer any hints tips or solutions or had the same experience?

If this is correct, DJ console rmx (package is 1.HDJS.2008); then you should update to the latest drivers from Hercules --

Hercules DJ Console Series - 2009_HDJS_1 package -> released 2009-04-14

http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=28&pid=215&cid=1

Also, found this information ... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=341893&page=3

Read the second to last entry on the page ...

I try downloading that new driver link, and when i do, and after it goes through all the loading uninstalling installing etc it just says "The Hercules DJ series driver found on your system is older than expected" then all i can do is re-install the old version that came with my hercules rmx (virtual dj5djc edition version 1.0)
:-(

If i bite the bullet and spend ANOTHER £200 on updating to PRO, will i be able to finally download these updated drivers? are these the kind of bugs that are going to get fixed? If not, i've wasted a fortune on DJ software which is nothing short of useless :-(

Did you follow their instructions on the site by first uninstalling the drivers ...

Installation :
1- Uninstall the previous driver version: to do so, click Start/Settings/Control Panel. Select the Add or Remove Programs icon, then uninstall Hercules DJConsole Series drivers. Alternatively, you can simply launch this package: it will uninstall the previous drivers for you.
2- Restart your PC.
3- Launch this package to install the new drivers.
4- At the end of the installation, you may be prompted to update your firmware version if you have not already updated it. Please be sure to strictly follow the on-screen instructions for this very important procedure.
5- You are now ready to use your DJ controller.

And we have nothing to do with their drivers...
And your issue is not VirtualDJ software ... its a hardware latency issue ... no bugs to fix on our end.
And you didn't buy our software ... you bought a controller that is distributed with a Limited Edition version of the VirtualDJ software.

It's the vista! Also ditch the USB hub and look at the systems resources(interrupt request). See if the console and the sound card are sharing the same IRQ or something else is sharing the IRQ. Also go to run and type msconfig and look at the start up programs and uncheck any unwanted program that you don't want starting up on boot up.

I have the same problem with the track that is playing jumping when i load a track on the other deck. I have the RMX and also have the most upto date drivers on my hp laptop. Ive checked the latency with th DPC checker and no issues there.

But it is a problem that starts suddenly after a while of a set. I was about an hour and a half into my first proper gig and it started doing this last Saturday. I was so desperate to solve the issue that i was on my iphone searching the virtual dj forums to no avail.

Going to try to remove all unwanted parts of vista now but am going to have to get it all setup at home so I can re-create the issue?

I would try to recreate the issue BEFORE messing with Vista, however make sure UAC is disabled under the user setting in Vista.

hey, how can i find the irq setting and the latency setting as well. im having the same problem where i play music from my rmx and it skips every 20 seconds or so. it works perfectly fine on my desktop but it's giving me too much problems on my laptop. HELP PLZ, i have a couple of gigs this weekend. im not exactly sure what the problem is so ANY and ALL suggestions will be greatly appreciated. im not as computer savy as most of you, so step by step directions would be great. thanks

i have a dell inspiron 1520 with vista home premium
intel(r) core(tm)2 duo cpu 7300 @ 2.00 ghz
2 gb of ram
32 bit operating system

There are many people with audio dropout / DPC latency issues on the Studio systems:

http://www.google.com/search?q=studio+1735+dpc&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Go to the support.dell.com, try to update the Chipset, Video and BIOS drives at least. If you can update all drivers, I would do that. There are various posts that say the BIOS update brought DPC down quite a bit.

On my XPS 1330, my Nvidia power managent software was causing audio dropouts. I dont know which video card you have, but I'm betting its the ATI. I dont know if there is a way to disable ATI's power managent software. I personally don't see the Intel card causing any audio issues. I've had "troublefree" audio with the integrated Intel video/chipset/wifi cards.

Okies - I had a toshiba L30 with vista - worked brilliantly until the graphics went doolalley - time for a new laptop.
Got a Sony Viao - n21e - nice vista laptop 2gb ram - on goes virtual Dj with the Hercules RMX drivers all seams to work.
I gig with it and EVERY MP3!! jumps atleast once, commonly smack in the middle of the file, some mp3s jump more. hmm
Unplugg the RMX and run from the internal soundcard, all fine no problems.... hmmm
Okies, Ive got another laptop, an old Advent thingy with xp - fresh clean install, and guess what, exacly the same with the RMX....
hmmm whats the common denominator, arr the RMX unit, must be a setting - a week later and still no further forward, until I come accross this thread.......
this is how i fixed mine (Both Laptops)
I downloaded something called ProcessExplorer - shows whats running a but like the taskmanager, but a bit more details..
hmm not alot running now..... but i can stop some processes running....
soundman.exe - do i really need this as im running an external soundcard ... narr - stopped it -- dammn still jumps....
hkcmd.exe - hotkeys - will i use them?? anrrr - stopped it -- dammn still jumps
igfxtray.exe - ??? - stopped it and ... dammn still jumps
igfxpers.exe - ??? - stopped it and ... ohh it didn't jump.... let it play a bit -- dammn it jumps
ctfmon.exe - ??? - ohh i googled that one and its to do it external things like pointers and screens and pens and things - arrr!! stopped it and.... - woooooo its not jumping - - let it play...... its not jumping..... arr it jumped once..... and its not jumping - well its alot better, not perfect, jumps very occasionally, but then so do cd's .. :-)

downloaded startupcpl to stop these things from starting when xp loads and its a lot better than it was... not perfect but alot better.

vista you'll have to diable the UAC and stuff, i also followed Hercules advice on windows setting to increase speed.. i rekon it was ctfmon.exe that was interfering.... might have been a few things, ohh and the screen resolution the same as the skin helped the display run smoother too... i use the tascam 1024x768 skin - desktop outside virtual Dj looks odd, but the laptops only for CDj...

just heard a skip as i type this.. poop. - but its better x

I've not uninstalled the intel Grpahics excellerator - thats better :-)

Disabling all useless applications on the computer is a given, but have you tried changing the soundcard ASIO buffer size ?

In the DJ Control Panel, switch to ASIO audio mode, then go to the ASIO tab

You can raise or lower the ASIO Buffer Size (one step at a time), then try VDJ for a while and pay attention if the problem get worst or improve. Repeat until you find the correct setting for your computer.

mhhh never had any probs until i upgraded to version 7 obviosley a problem with vdj even reformatted laptop tried 6.02 up worked fine then took it completeley off tried 7 then sound starts skipping, logic therefor tells you its something in the software....

I ask myself why on earth do they never test the software thorougley before releasing it....... gues there will be some new versions with fixes over next few weeks lol
