Recently I had a rant about Acer support and Microsoft. Spent £1800.00 on a Laptop and when ia problem occured, I did a reinstall however the software would'nt activate Acer were of no help and Microsoft wanted a futher £40.00 plus for support. realising that Acer, Gateway and Packard Bell are one of the same I installed my Gateway Factory Disc into my Acer and all is fine, no activation needed and up and running. I also like the fact that most of the drivers are the same.

I recently did a rebuild of one of my machines and as the previous installation was just several months ago I was unable to activate via the internet. However, I was able to activate via the freephone number without any issue.
Glad you found a resolution in the end although Acer's restore feature should have been pre activated.
