Hi there, I bought a Numark Total Control with Cue and im having some serious distortions when im playing with it.
First I thought it was because of the Total Control, bude I get the same results even if its unplugged and I only use my keyboard or mouse.
I have uploaded 2 mp3 files, so you can hear exactly, what those distortions are about :
http://rapidshare.com/files/234960512/VDJ_CUE_distortions.rar.html
What I did was put up 2 songs, one on each deck, and while A was playing, I was moving the jog wheel, the hi, mid and lows, the xfader, the volume, the pitch control, it doesnt matter, everything produced the same distortion, even if I was moving B with 0 volume.
I also tried switching the Quality setting but as you can hear, nothing has changed.
Gain was set to +0 db and master was in the mid, the bars didnt even jump up to 1/2
From my observations what I could find is that it mostly happens when there is "a lot going on" in the songs, eg. when theres a instrumental break or no beats only vocals, I rarely get the distortions, but when the song is in the middle, I cant even adjust the volume without the distortions.
The worst thing is, I cant even cue up a song because when trying to beat match them, everyone can hear the distortions.
I will try the total control with VDJ and or Cue on another PC or Notebook maybe its because of my pc, I dont know.
Does anyone have any tips for me ?
If you need anything, send me a short reply.
With kind regards,
Slovak DJ
PS. Cue is 5.0 rev.2, vdj is 5.2 pro, I tried Traktor DJ Studio and I have no distortions at all, but I dont like traktor too much :( would love to have VDJ or Cue

It's a problem with either your system or your configuration. Please post screenshots of...
Your sound setup window
Your performances window
DPC Latency checker whilst you are having this issue
...and we will probably be able to help you. I would also recommend registering your license here and getting the latest update to see it that makes things any better for you.

Aight, thanks very much for a reply. Ill do what I can :)
So heres the data you requested :
Performance - http://i43.tinypic.com/rtj52w.jpg
I also tried the Fastest and the High Quality but it didnt change a thing except when Master Tempo was set to Advanced, it totally killed my CPU :D
Sound Setup 1 - http://i41.tinypic.com/11lr4et.jpg
When I got my headphones on, I use the USB Audio card only for cue-ing up songs.
Sound Setup 2 - http://i40.tinypic.com/2natlqe.jpg
My regular setup without headphones, for just messing around.
DPS Latency - http://i40.tinypic.com/qx2dea.jpg
was really steady, no rapid changes even if I had or didnt have any distortions
CPU Usage - http://i39.tinypic.com/e7cr2a.jpg
now this was quite interesting, every time I was playing with the jogwheel, volume, pitch or anything just not leting the song play, my CPU Usage for Cue / Virtual DJ was going as high as 30-50 % (with distortions, but also without them)
After a few hours of testing, I found out as already written that the distortion mostly come out when there is a lot going on on both songs.
Also when I reload the same song (mostly only one side is affected and not both, but its random if its A or B) the distortions disappear, but might appear on the other song after a while. So basically when I was mixing and switching songs under lets say a minute, I had no problems. As soon as I let one song play for more than 3-4 minutes there was a high posibility of those distortions.
I really have no idea what could cause it, as its terribly sporadical. Sometimes I have no troubles at all. Sometimes even at the begining when I load up 2 songs, le one play and move the jogwheel, volume or pitch on the other song (volume at 0), the first one gets distorted.
I didnt have time to test it on other systems, will borrow a friends laptop and try it there, reinstalling windows maybe. The high CPU usage could be a hint that when one song is playing and I move the jogwheel one the other it just cant keep up, creating the distortions. But even with the lowest quality I had the same results and also its very sporadical.
My specs are btw : Intel Core 2 Duo 4300 @ 1.8 GHz with 2 GB of RAM. No other programs were running while testing.
I appreciate your effort :)

Disable Safe Mode and Overclock on the performances tab and retest.
If that doesn't work, see if increasing your latency has any impact.

Hi there, I disabled the Safe Mode and Overclock and the distortions are gone.
My CPU is getting a bit more pressure, but I am finally able to make a live mix and doing whatever I want, without the distortions :)
Thanks a lot for your help ! Have a nice day
