I have to say that I absolutely LOVE this feature. The more I started to play around with it, the more I realized how this can help me to become a better DJ. Since I work in a strip club, I play all kinds of music and don't remember in 15 minutes what tracks I've played. With this tool I can look at what I'm playing, compare to other people, and maybe see where I might be getting into a rut. It's also nice to have a history away from the gig that I can look at. (My machine is not portable) Spectacular idea guys!

Totally love it too ;)

Guys sign up for MusicGroup...

Its a hella great feature in VDJ6 if you start using it..

1) You can auto generate your own MusicGroup with Top 20 played songs from yourself, publish it to the world, save playlists

2) You can subscribe to MusicGroups, and get live mix tips inside VDJ.

- For example, say you subscribe to "VirtualDJ Radio House Music", the tip will be given based on your current song, and what 100s of experienced djs say is a good song to mix to the song you are playing right now

Its like having the World of DJs there with you to help you out, with your trackselection... awesome feature ;)

+ with VDJ6, if you dont have the track you get a tip on playing, simply use the NetSearch feature, and find the track ;)

Voila! ;)

based on what derrick just said , i gotta try this , sounds awesome .....

i have the same problem as derrick same situation strip clubs and the tunes all start to blur together

i use the virtual folders a lot plus filters too

unfortunately i'm working now and lately i have been moving from suburbs into philadelphia and just really busy even between shifts at work

maybe this weekend ......

I love this feature also... I've been trying to figure out how not to get into a rut especially playing at the same play location muliple nights a weak and BAM VDJ 6 saves the day...

I love this new version... I play with this more than I play with myself- oops, too much info huh!

Sounds to me like very shortly every Dj will sound just like every other Dj...personally I hate it when I go to a club the night or two nights after and hear a Dj that was in my club playing the same set I did, work your own crowd, think up your own mixes, do your own playlists...........this is how radio spiraled down the corporate path to non creative play the same stinking song every 55 minutes and every station plays in almost the same order every day routine.

Now instead of you being in a rut every Dj within reach of the interent will be in the same rut as you. The whole world are SHEEP!

A nice thing for beginners bedroom dj`s and non creativ people who have no personal ideas ;-( lol

this is a briliant feature! you dont have to play whats suggested but it has helped remind me of some good tunes i no longer play. and also helped me with a couple of tunes i didnt know the name of mainly due to the netsearch feature
this release is cracking!

I accept that the points are valid
Yes - there will be copy cats
But some copy cats do modify the content they see to fit their own style

Personally - the music group idea is a great one
Often times - Reggae music - is greatly misunderstood, and often times persons collections are filled with bizarre, strange songs.. that are no where near what reggae is.

In addition - there are many DJs worldwide who think Reggae is simply - Bob Marley and the Wailers, or Burning Spear or UB40 or Ace of Base, so are ignorant of the fact that Reggae has evolved into many different and varied sections.

MUSIC GROUPS - allow a good reflection of what is currently being played in a genre.

Scenario - I was asked a couple months ago to play on Wednesdays - Latin music
The only idea i had of latin music - was how to spell it

Thanks to VDJ forum i was able to ask different users to post me a list of songs I could use - now this feature will allow many Djs to become acquainted with songs out there and as suggest remind many of songs they have forgotten existed.

About the Track Advice feature....
I don't suppose there is a way to get more than one suggestion for a next track is there? So far I'm finding this feature to be nearly useles... although it is a *great* idea and it would be really handy if there was a way to get a LIST of suggested similar songs, rather than just the one.

@ dj-e-lectric

In my case playing anything different will freshen things up. If I was only playing say... house, then yeah, I would start to sound like everyone else if I peeked at everyones lists and started playing what they are playing. But since I go across at least five different genres, a little help is needed sometimes. I have do have a life outside of DJing that needs to be taken care of and can't pour all my resources into researching new stuff across five or more different music categories.

big up digtal wiz....mi mediazone friend its dj genius....................do i have to be a pro use to use this feature, cause i am trying to join the music groups it keeps saying the link is not valid anymore...plz...advise and help

Any additional tools to the DJs work bag is welcome in my book. Many a time I have gone blank when deciding my next tune or even on to my regular venue and my mood was such that I wanted to get away from my usual format and welcome ideas . Its posted that this facility is alright for bedroom DJs, Lol - No different in some of the club setups where by you can refer to other DJs work for reference, good idea I reckon.

No Way man!!

How can I see more than the "Top 20" music groups. All I see is House / Trance music groups(UK based people). Don't get me wrong, I love house, hard trance but that isn't going to fly where I DJ(most places in Austin,TX). I would like to join other musicgroups of people in the US and I would like other people to going mine. Any ideas?

Also how can I view other users submissions / recommendations of songs. Do I look at thier Musicgroup page or is does it show up in VDJ somewhere?

thanks,
DJ Kavika

Digitalwiz, you are exactly right. This is a feature that will help people who don't really know a particular genre such as Reggae or Latino. Music Groups will offer a wealth of ideas and help familiarizing us with music we're not used to. I remember the first time I did a Bar Mitzvah, coming from a Roman Catholic AND Muslim background I didn't know if I could pull it off. Thankfully I had an old DJ buddy that was about 15 years older than me who had done lots of these he gave me all the info I needed to rock the show. Well, Music Groups and VDJ forums are like that old DJ buddy. This is a priceless resource to new DJs everywhere. I'm old school and I'm still learning daily and I think MGs is a great idea.

Music Groups combined with the wealth of info from DJs across the world on the forums will undoubtedly augment the knowledge of the seasoned pro and the noob alike.

I recommend that persons that want to keep abreast of current tunes especially from Reggae Music (Jamaican Style)
copy and paste playlist into a word processing document. in case you want to save these list for future reference

It is observed that playlists are displayed based on the number of songs a feeder plays.. So basically playlist will change everyday in this group.

Which there was someway to save /copy playlists to an excel or database file, with everything looking same way as it does on the site
