i would honestly suggest "trying" all genres and give it a try.

i personally try each and every genre that i can lay my hands off..i love mixing electro and trance house etc..but i mix hiphop pretty good too so i would say just give it a try and u might love it and mix everything as it broadens your view on all cultures of society and will make you a better dj ...

damn i shouldnt have drank that much today..lol i give WISE advice when im hammered lool

If you want to stay living in your area and making money you need to do what the market wants. If you don't mind moving and you have the means then move to where you can persue your passion (and make money)

never limit yourself on what you can mix, 'cause you never know where you're gonna end up. learn to mix everything and you can always move on to other clubs when you have to. and considering that the average life span for alot of clubs is only a couple of years, you really need to be able to be prepared if or when it happens. and even if you don't particularly like the music you have to play in a club or gig (and this IS from the horses mouth) you can always go home and unwind by mixing what you really like at home after work.

Well,

You can also play at work what you NEED to play and come to VirtualDJ Radio (after application setup and been accepted) and play what you love to mix :-D

Good Luck!

THATS COOL THANKS

In this day in age specifically in our business being and staying versatile it's key!

Take a look through the Music forum theres many good suggestions on various playlists. Even if you dont know the music well you can make a few playlists from googling what the top songs in most genres are and practice mixing them together. Take note of what songs are killing the dancefloor and take them off your lists after you have tried them a few times.
