so far fathers day has gone like this -
left work, went fishing, caught fish, now goin to bed.
gonna wake up, gonna bbq all day and night and have a carnivores feastival, then portion up and freeze the rest (why waste the coals after the steaks are done?) ribs, chicken, and maybe some sausage if theres any room left. and when thats all done -
chillin' out with VDJ radio of course!

That was the name of my first yacht, Carnivorous Festival. It was lost of the Drambuie coast with all hands. The crew came back, just without hands. I guess we were never meant to learn how to sail meat.....

Happy Fathers Day!
Although my dad is no longer with us, on this day I tend to reflect on the good times we'd had together when he was.
I've gotten texts from my daughters today, wishing me well, as well as a card from my son, and even my granddaughter :)

on a more serious note ....
if fadders day turns into inventory day , good , take inventory .....
" a real authentic caring individual is what kids need most . You can do it, Dad ."
bad statistics ....about 25 million children in the U.S. are in fatherless homes(out of 66 million fathers)
a huge percentage of Americans will say when questioned , that fatherless homes are the most significant social problem....
so man up , and spend hours assembling that bubba q when you could do it in 20 minutes if you read the instructions.....

My old man served in World War II active duty in the Pacific, Guam, Midway, etc. He's been gone since '92, he'd be 90 years old if he was still kickin'. I miss him. Cantankerous old codger, but I miss him. He and my Mom adopted my sister and I when we were their foster children in the early 70's, took us vacations all over the US and Baja, Mexico. I'll always remember the old man, he worked hard to be a good provider and he was. I'm missing him.
Now I've got 5 of my own. My three sons (21, 20 & 18) are grown and gone to college and my 2 daughters (17 & 10) are still home with us. I have great kids, I couldn't have had a better brood!

My Father served with the RAF as an aircraft instrument tech. The last aircraft he worked on was the Nimrod MR2 based at RAF Kinloss in NE Scotland. Years after he had left the forces I end up spending 7 years working on the flight simulator for the very same aircraft. Acouple of years ago as a Fathers Day treat I took him down to the simulator and gave him a chance to fly around in the aircraft he used to work on for several hours.
Today on Fathers day I have talked with my 8yr old son and my Father from 3000 miles away. I am in Saudi Arabia they are in the UK. I talk to my Wife and Son every day but that can't replace being there.
Just wanted to say thanks to all and remind anyone in the military forces or contracted to them as I am. If you are unlucky enough to be away from your family. They apreciate everything you do and so do the familys who are able to be together, because of what you do.
Happy Fathers day.
