Each to their own opinion. If folk want to believe all they read instead of actual facts and evidence then so be it, that's for the gossip mongers . If it bothers you that much why bother writing on here. Most folk are contributing their thoughts of a man who changed music, positive thoughts. You just want to keep harking on about some ones past which had been dealt with for god sake the man is now dead.
Might be a good idea for someone to have the last final tribute and close the thread

Well said! Respect. Rest in Peace Michael. ..and that IS my last comment on the subject.

We have noticed, lately, several calls for closing threads. That is something we attempt not to do on these forums. Closing a thread is only done when, there are multiple threads on one topic. Or, in extreme circumstances. I understand the frustration behind those sentiments, but please leave the moderating/managing, of the forums to the Teamers, and us moderators. Thanks.

If you read the question right you will see it is asking if he is a nut case or god, not a memorial.

My take on his dark side is this, and I have two teen age daughters.
He obviously had a problem regardless of the court's decision.
Child/spouse abuse regardless of sexual or physical is something that is handed down in many cases by people who suffered at the hands of others in this way. It is a wide spread problem if priests are getting convicted.
He was punished regardless of monetary or jail time, and paid his price.
Will he ever be forgiven? Probably not by those who suffered at his hands.
If we look at his achievements in society vs. his crimes, I pity him but I forgive him.

I wasn't going to get dragged into a debate on Michael Jackson's personal life, but I just have to comment here.
The court wasn't going to decide if he had problems or not. It was going to decide, had it gone to court, if he was innocent or guilty of child abuse. Yes, I think he had problems, mainly resulting from his upbringing and those problems became more prevalent in later years in his mega-stardom, which in itself brings it's own problems.

Agreed. It's a widespread problem even where people aren't convicted. There was a report published within the last few weeks in Ireland that shows just how widespread the issue was (and probably still is) in certain institutions. The report makes for extremely disturbing reading.
(Brief snyopsis here: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2009/0520/breaking5.htm). Noone has yet been convicted for those crimes, but that's for another day.

I'm not sure who you're referring to when you talk about those that suffered at his hands.
I always felt sorry for the guy and always thought he was a victim of circumstance. Certain people saw an opportunity that could be exploited for financial gain, and they jumped on it.
Granted, he did get himself into situations that were inappropriate involving an adult and young children. Inappropriate in the sense that it leaves the door open for speculation and insinuations. Does that make him guilty of abuse? Absolutely not. Just because he settled out of court, does that mean he was guilty of any crime or admitted guilt? Absolutely not.
Personally, I always thought he a was guy starved of affection and a normal youth and simply tried to re-live that with Never Never Land, children, and so forth... I think he went through a lot of uncecessary pain and suffering.
Just my 2 cents on this.
As I said before, I'm going to remember the guy for the teriffic musical legacy he's left behind...
-Martin.

i love mj music just as much as the rest of you
but would james brown ever sleep with young boys?
michael jordan?
obama?
roger federer?
denzel washington?
i dj'd a party in nyc for white diamonds years ago and elizabeth taylor was escorted by MJ
he walked by me and i said hello and he said "hi" right back
he had 3 body guards
his music is legendary...greatest performer ever!!!
motown 25 is best 8 minutes of music and dance in history of the world
but his personal life had tainted it for me
for past 10 years he couldn't even get arrested
no one wanted to get near him
now every one is going to try and hold tribute to make money off of him
saidest fall from grace in american history

Did he / Didn't he ? 30 years time the fans won't even give consideration to his past. I got stabbed five times with many other violations by my Ex due to the effects of sexual abuse inflicted upon her by her brother as a child. The brother had his own children later on in life and no doubt the abuse will be carried out on them as abuse records prove that once an abuser always also in many cases the abused becomes an abuser in some shape or form. I not only have to live with the knowledge that there is a monster out there abusing his kids but also my ex who's mind has been so twisted she seeks revenge on others who she entrusted with her past which opened a mental can of worms. For information the Police requested that she will be released one night from a cell on the condition I have her sectioned, I did and the hospital released her with in hours with no support leaving her to terrorise 8 years on.
Given that MJ went through the American judicial system I can only pray that he is innocent of the charges and even I have to accept that he was not guilty of such crimes , believe me I would be first to put my hand up and vote for execution, however does that make me as bad as the abuser? If there is truth in the charges then I hope he has gone to the right place to be judged.
Out of six gigs since MJ'S crossing I have played two MJ tracks, Ben by choice Friday evening which brought the place to a tearful silence but other than that no one complained of the lack of them - in fact one girl asked me not to play any - she has her reasons. It just proved the point that as news worthy his death is, here in the UK, no one was really interested at my venues.
Final point.
American law states that his estate go to the childrens Mum, what a battle thats gonna be as its already being reported that the kids could be entrusted over to MJ's Mother.
The Dawn chorus has just broken here in the Uk and unusual high temperature are expected today, so to bed.
