I want to know about dj mixxes and copyright laws. Well Are we or am I violating the the copyright for mixxing songs and uploading it somehwhere like say imeem and myspace??...its my mix i made it..im not saying its my song but its the songs i bought and mixed it.
I would like to know how copyright laws come into play when it comes to our mixxrd we upload on sites like that.. :)

It's a bit of a grey area.
As far as I know, distributing DJ-mixes is more or less illegal according to most countries copyright laws. However, most record labels tend to ignore it since it's good promotion to have DJs playing your track in their mixes...plus the fact that when the track is part of a mix, the average listener can't really tell when one track ends another one begins, so it's not like it's directly competiting with a digital purchase from iTunes/Beatport/etc.
If you have permission from the producer/record label, then it's totally legal. For example, I run a podcast with another fellow DJ and often records labels and independent producers send us their promo tracks. Playing promos is legal, no gray area there. However, a large portion of the tracks we use in your mixes are records that we bought from the store...but so far we haven't received any complaints from anybody.
