I have a Toshiba Qosmio X305 series laptop running 64 bit Vista and It's been running fine since December though I'm using CDJ-400s so I don't need a time code solution. VDJ itself runs perfectly but I'm not sure about Virtual Vinyl, anyone!?

BTW I also have Serato SL-3 running Scratch Live 1.9, it's a great program but VDJ is far better.

thanks

I have been reading online articles for like a week cause i am really torn between serato and virtual vinyl. I like the features of virtual vinyl but I read everywhere that it is not compatible with vista 64.

does it say anywhere on this site from virtual vinyl/dj that it is offically compatible?

don't laugh at this next quick question, forgive my ignorance...

what is the difference between vitual vinyl and virtual dj? i thought they were different names for the same thing.

Numark Virtual Vinyl is the "time code" solution, Atomix Virtual DJ is the software. Like the Rane SL-3 is the "time code" solution and Serato Scratch Live is the software. Virtual Vinyl is a box like the SL-3 is a box. What the box does is translate the info back and forth between your players and the software. Since you are using CDJ-1000s they do not have a USB interface so the "box" is necessary to create a means of communication between your computer and the players. In other words in order for you to use either one of these programs you need a "time code" box. What you can do is buy the Serato set up and use VDJ withe the SL-1 original or the new and improved SL-3, but it is pretty price to go that route. I don't know of any other way considering you are in the same boat computer-wise with me, Numark Virtual Vinyl as far as I know is not 64 bit compatible.

I use both but rarely Serato unless I'm playing Whitelabel promos which require the box and program to get the full 320 kbps quality otherwise it's 32 kbps. I have it connected not because i need the time code solution, I don't, (CDJ-400s have USB ports) but because if I want to use Serato the box has to be connected, it acts as a software dongle. The nice thing is I can still use my VDJ through it and you could too.

I wish I had a better solution for you. Maybe someone else here might know of something!?

Good luck!

befor spending lot of cash look a maya 44 usb audio interface with virtual dj this will let you uses cdj in timecode mode as i'm doing in the club and yes i have a hp vista 64bit laptop and 32bit all works well plus just midi mapped djm 800 .so look for m audio & maya 44 was about £94 & midi box £50 so good times .

man, you guys really are nice around here.

i really appreciate your answers.

most other forums talk down to you and shit if you are asking what most would see as "noob" questions.

thanks again.

Or you could look at the M audio Conectiv soundcard. It is a very good card with a loud output (which the Maya44 hasn't). It has 64bit Vista drivers to but it's a tad more expensive than the Maya

OKAY OKAY...

last question from me here abuot this:

with my HP laptop with vista 64...

all i need is the program and a maya external soundcard and I will be good?

I am so close to making a decision and i am trying to avoid into buying serato since this one has so many more features.

this wouldnt happen to be cpixel nelson would it?

Buy the M-Audio connectiv Box. Its better than the Maya 44. The M audio sounds cleaner and louder.

yes sir. hahaha bringing up cpixel here.

damn M audio is so expensive. but i guess. thanks

Since u say you have Vista 64 bit, make sure that anything u use on that system has 64 bit drivers (ie. Soundcard, controllers, etc) would hate for ya to spend the cash only to find out it doesnt work on your Vista 64 system:)

Hey guys i got a question that i need help with.
I just set up my maya 44 usb soundcard with my turntables and mixer and i get 100% signal from my timecoded vinyls. When i play it i can only hear sound out of my headphones when i cue it up on my mixer and i get no sound coming from my speakers. My speakers are plugged in through my mixer under "Master". How can i get sound out of my speakers?
