I have a brand new 'tank' vai-80 that comes with 4 inputs, 4 outputs, a headphone output and a mic input. Everything works fine except the mic.
In Traktor, I'm able to select an input channel for the mic and route it to an output channel where the music(master) is playing.
Is there a way through VDJ to get the mic to work? or does it need a special configuration.
I guess vdj can't be written for every single controller/device out there but is it possible with the vai-80?

My understanding is that if you have the mic set as the systems default input device, you can use the mic straight out of the box. The new v6 skins even have a mic level on them I believe.
This does mean that for a mic to work, you cannot use ASIO mode.

VirtualDJ does not 'route' the Microphone through the software. The microphone on the VAI-80 should go direct through to the Main Outs on the sound card. I was not able to find any documentation on the Vestax site ... but looking at the one YouTube video I found ... you would control the volume level on the sound card with the volume knob.

Ok I guess I should have also added I'm using a macbook pro and therefore do not use asio4all for the pc.
I did set the default input as the mic and agree the volume knob should adjust the level out to the masterout on the vai-80, however, it doesn't.
I tried the unit on the pc as well with the same results; ie set up the default input (mic) and then started VDJ. the master out and monitor channels work perfectly but again no mic out to the master channel.
I realize also the VAI-80 is still quite new and not to many reviews and testers have posted their results so I understand not too much info is out there.
I can say the only luck I've had was to set the input(mic) in Traktor and set the output Master to chanel 1 and 2 and it worked.
I will try VDJ again (since its my dj software of choice) on both versions and see what happens.
Thank-you for the advise

The settings in VirtualDJ are different ... you do not make any settings in VirtualDJ for the Microphone.

I have had no luck with the mic input at all. I can speak into the mic and see the leds move up and down with the music but no mic mixed into the output. not sure what is wrong and no one seems to have this unit so that I can ask either.
furthermore, vestax does not support this unit in north america. maybe I need a special mic? unless anyone has a suggestion, I guess I'm SOL.
