Topic: Missing Files / Virtual Folders

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

This is the second time I post regarding this! I was never answered about it the first time, so I figuered I would try again. Im not sure if this is a bug or what it could be?

I havent heard anything about this issue on here im wondering if its something in my system, but it doesnt make any sense. None the less it's serious and extremely annoying.

This is actually the 3rd time this has happened to me, I just didnt necessarily notice it right away cause its not all my folders! Its only a few at a time. So I dont notice right away.

Nothing in particular that I have done to make this happen unless it was that I did a clean up on my folders through the VDJ browser tab??

2 folders are missing today from my crate (Soulful House), and (Mixes) .

Can someone give me an opinion on this topic? I dont like to keep having to rebuild my virtual folders from scratch it sucks!!

By the way ! The folders that came up missing........ All that music is still in my hard drive in my music folder on my Vista OS.

I just want to say ur not alone that crap happen to me too

Damn.......good to know atleast that it's not my doings! Ok, so I guess we can call this a bug then??

i've had this problem on several versions now

Some others are having this trouble as well.

No kiddin , I hadnt heard anything about it? Its a strange bug , hey not for nothing but Chuck you said you've had this happen on previous versions?

This has just happened to me on 6.0 for the first time since man I cant even remember what version I started with lol......

They put a little folder bug in VDJ to give us something to do when we get bored of doing nothing lol.....

Look, I just wanted to let you know that you weren't alone in your plight. Hardly deserving of your sarcasm...Jeez...No I don't believe that you are an idiot, nor was I implying such :|

I've also mentioned it in other posts about losing virtual folders, and also losing song data at complete random. First, I was told we should be all set because of some new code used in VDJ6 database, well that did NOT change anything. Then I was told of a workaround having something to do with "add manually" and stay away from playlists from other ext. drives that are not hooked up. Did all that stuff and still have all those same missing items show up from time to time; and just by opening and closing VDJ I can lose 4 or 5 songs data at any given time on a high end Shuttle with all songs on internal Hard Drive.

I must agree that it is a strange and random problem...There have been lots of posts about it in the forums for a few versions now. I guess that they are just having trouble nailing the source of it down once and for all.

@HKNYC...Sorry I was rude before - I read your post again and think that maybe I misunderstood you; I guess I'm just cranky today.

Unless I missed something, I'm not sure there was any sarcasm implied. Think you might have misread the reply :-).

I think there's a danger here of assuming different problems are the same. While all problems may be related, I'm still seeing 3 different problem descriptions:

(1) Missing Virtual Folders. The current thread, along with this one: http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/106407/PC_Version_Technical_Support/Lost_a_virtual_folder_.html?search=losing virtual folders&page=1

(2) Missing track data when adding new tracks, in this thread: http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/111544/PC_Version_Technical_Support/v6_0_1_database_still_missing_bpm_info___.html?page=1

(3) Missing track data randomly when starting-up VDJ, as discussed in the thread in (2) above.

Granted, thay all sound like database-related issues, but let's not assume they're one and the same problem. For example, I've not experienced losing virtual folders, nor have I experienced losing track data when starting-up VDJ, but I've lost track data when not following the recommendations in (2) above.

I hope I'm not confusing issues here by referring to different posts, across different forums, but I'd sure like to keep focus on the particular problem being described, rather than let (potentially) different problems become morphed as the one issue in our minds...

(By the way, not having a go at you, bryantpb, just trying to separate possibly different issues!).

Forget my earlier comment!! I started a reply, answered the phone and came back about an hour later to finish typing! You had your reply done in the meantime. I've a habit of doing that: start a reply and come back later to finish it, not seeing the response(s) in-between! Doh! :-).

(Anyways, well spotted dude!).
