I am wondering what happens when the timecode track ends while the mp3 track is not finished..for example the track is 15 minutes long (the timecode is 12 minutes long).

Could anyone tell me that?
I am talking about all three ways: Smart Relative, Relative and Absolute.

Your computer will self destruct. I don't know either, because I don't use TC. Why not try it and see what happens. Let me know.

I did not try because I don't have TC ;)
Since I would like to make sure of possible problems with TC, I am asking VDJ community before buying all equipments for timecoding.

When the timecode of the vinyl ends (your needle reach the "endless groove" at the end of the vinyl) the track will play on in Virtual Dj.

I don't understand.

Could you be more clear?

On the virtual dj skin.. Click on Config, Then sound set up. 1-where it says Input..Change the setting to times codes. You will see a small picture of of (2)truntables and a laptop... 2 is Outputs. Change setting to External mixer. 3 is the setting for the soundcard you have.
4. Now click on timecode config which is located next to the input setting for time codes. If you are using CD's, click on CD or if you have Records, click on vinyl... Go down alittle and where it says Mode. Click on either Absolute, Smart or Relative... The information you will read below explains what these 3 mean. ( Look Down )

Absolute – This mode is similar to how music is normally played on vinyl. The beginning of the record corresponds to the beginning of the track and picking up the needle and moving it to another location on the vinyl, also known as needle dropping, will move playback to that location in the track. Please note that in Absolute mode you will not be able to use some of the software features, such as looping and cue points.

Relative – In this mode, the software will track the relative movement of the record (forward, backward) but will not track the position of the within the control timecode. So, for example, you will not be able to seek to another location of the song by picking up the needle and dropping it on another part of the record. This mode is perfect for scratch DJs since it allows you to scratch without worrying about the needle skipping around on the record – the software will compensate for any skip that might occur. In this mode, you are also allowed to use some additional software features, such as looping and cue points.

Smart (default) – This is the default timecode tracking mode and is the mode that we recommend most users use. In Smart mode, you have the ability to do needle drops but can also use the additional features of the software, such as pitch, loops and cue points.

Caliente Is great.. Hes the best.. LOL

Caliente I thank you for the reply but my question is another thing.

I want to know what happens if the track I am playing is longer than timecode track in both three timecode modes.

If someone has never used timecode, that person knows the timecode track is 12 minutes long.

The track will not stop if you reach the end of the timecode Vinyl. But have a look at the following video. (It is explained in German but I think you will see what I´m tryin to explain)

Thank you very much Pachtyman..That was what I wanted to know.

Is that the same behaviour in all three TC modes?

My buddy just got his sound card for timecode setup and the CD only plays in relative mode and it won't scratch backwards (if you spin the platter backwards it plays the track forwards) I'm soon to be a pro user and have basically the same setup and would like to trouble shoot this before I get all setup. Anyone have any ideas???
-setup-(single timecode for now)
-1x American Audio Versaport
-1x Numark CDX
-Stanton m.212
Everything else works perfect except that.
