I downloaded the eval for v6 and I like the look and feel. Of course I'm using 3.4 LE now so v6 looks clean and shiney.
I noticed that running this version was really working my CPU. ( P4 3.2GHz )
Sitting idle it ran over 50%, loading any track, audio or video, pegged it out.
When I minimize the screen the cpu comes back down to around 5-10%.
Am I undersized on my CPU?
Also noticed that I can't change the settings for the jog wheels. If I touch the jog wheels it stops the track.
Am I missing a setting, I couldn't find anyplace to change it from scratch to nudge? I did play with the job wheel sensitivity but that didn't keep the track from stopping only how fast it moved when I moved the jog wheel.
Here are a few more specs just in case.
P4 3.2GHz
1GB of ram, not sure what kind.
256MB NVidia adapter.
Thanks for you input.

Are you running maximized? Thats probably causing it...

You can never have too much ram. Max it.

SBDJ, do you mean the skin is maximized to fill the screen or am I missing a setting that you're refering to?
Staleyaic, I agree 100% but I didn't want to track down the RAM if the CPU isn't going to cut the mustard.
I've got some other hardware I can test this on, but I was hoping this system would work well. It's been my video box for sometime now and I've never had any issues running all sorts of media players and file formats.
If I can make this work well I may be on my way to upgrading to Pro.
Thanks for the input gents.

Yes, this is a problem for some users, that when they maximize the skin to fit your screen, it can cause the CPU usage increase quite dramatically. It is something that needs to be looked at by the team and I think it will.
It is best to find and use a skin that is the right resolution for your screen rather than using the maximize option.

Thanks for the clarification, Jimmy.
I'll try it out this evening.

adjusting my screen resolution corrected the CPU issue. Thanks.
and now I've discovered that monitoring with headphones is hosed up on the MKII. I get only deck A on any switch setting on the MKII except on the "mix" position on the switch where I get a mix of deck A & B. I've tried several settings within the config with no luck. I kind of assumed selecting the MKII as my soundcard would take care of it but that is not the case currently.
I have eval of Ver 6 & the latest drivers and firmware from Hercules.
any and all help is much appreciated.

And on the sound setup tab did you set the Outputs section for 'Headphones' ?

Thanks Phili,
I'll have to check this evening. I've tried several settings, don't remember how it's configured currently.

wouldn't having my MKII set as the soundcard work.
No matter the settings it does not work properly. The main mix fader controls what I get out of the headphones, I only get the other deck when headphones switch is set to "Mix".

What do you have set in the sound setup window?
geposted Sat 15 Aug 09 @ 5:21 am
inputs = none
outputs = single output
soundcard = MK2
I have tried setting the outputs to headphones using both options in the dropdown. No joy.

Interesting discovery... with outputs set to Headphones the switch on my MK2 doesn't control which deck I monitor but tabbing between decks using my keyboard changes the deck being monitored with the headphones. is this something set in the mapping? I have made no changes as far as mapping keys or my controller.

You definately need to run it in headphones mode.
The PFL bus will listen to the selected deck, so you'll need a control somewhere mapped to select to switch channels. Default mapping has a PFL control for this purpose - although I don't have a Mk2 so I don't know what actual control this is?

Thanks. I can make it work like this. Odd that the switch on the MK2 doesn't control this anymore.
This is the only issue I've found with V6, I love it. Had money saved to make the purchase, then a tree fell on my house. Couple of months I should be ready. I'll miss it when the eval runs out.

Perhaps it's an oversight and we can fix it, without the hardware it's hard for me to tell ;)
