I have just downgraded from Vista 32 bit home to xp pro sp 2 due to firewire issues i could not solve in vista. no matter what drivers i tried i could not get rid of tiny clicks and pops in the play back from the fire wire sound card in my Zero 4. i never had this problem before with vista or my other xp system but now i get video freeze. If i have accelerator on i get the freezes. if i turn accelerator off i get no freezes but loose all effects and transitions etc. laptop specs 2.1 dual core T8100, 4 gigs ram (3 in xp) Nvidia 8400GS tweaked and gig dedicated machine. i'll explain.
Playing video on deck 1 plays fine with or without acc. on. If i have it set to acc on once i load a video into the open deck and hit play after 4 seconds or so one of the videos stops but the wave form and audio continue to play and move. i would hate to have to go back to vista and start using extra hardware again. i went to the Zero 4 to combine sound card, mixer and midi controller but the clicks were killing me. now i get perfect sound but my video freezes. WTF need some input, suggestions etc. i have tried dif codecs, nlite codec pack, dif video drivers but nothing fixes the problem. the same videos play fine in winamp, QT, media player etc. so i don't think its a "system" issue but i could be wrong.

I would like to add i just did a benchmark test using a free video stability test and my newly formatted/xp install machine tested better than the other 8400M gs card results they had on there site from users. also i can play 2 videos at the same time with effects going on my "living room" laptop with an nvidia 7000M video card and i don't get the full out video freeze.this laptop is a dual core AMD 1.9 with 2 gigs of ram Nvidia 7000M card. makes no sense.

so nooooo one has any ideas? well good thing i had windows 7 64 bit laying around. i jumped on microsoft and grabbed a new Key for my RC copy and BAMM! Cue 5.2 has been running in automation all night dpc latency checker never got over 730 in almost 8 hours of automixing. i no longer have the video freeze issue nore do i have ANY sound issues. if your having problems try an install of WINDOWS 7 it simply JUST WORKS! i can not wait till the official release. they aren't kidding when they say 7 is what vista should have been.

I would say your problem in xp was the fact you had a dx10 card and no dx10 drivers, windows 7 put those back for you.

actually yes your partly right after i had the issues in xp i did some more reasearch and found that my card is x10 but i also installed an directx10 patch and got it to run x10 in xp and still had the issues. i just wish someone would have cued in on that a day or two ago.

I had that problem 2 years ago when I got my laptop. It would only work in Vista, but I also put Windows 7 on my second partition and it works well. Mine is the 8600M GT

i have had it in automix since yest am with cube, rotation, scroll text, show logo and playing deck b when i think to hit space bar and it hasn\'t hicuped once! i even updated some things online while its been running with no issues. ram hasn\'t hit over 1.6 gb even when doing the most at once. latency checker stays low etc. i have been runnign 7 on my AV editing tower for a monthish and its great.
