Hi all, Im Chris From California.
Recently I just downloaded Virtual DJ for my PC and Mac, both work fine (as far as I know)
And I was just wondering if I could get some pointers here and there on what to do and such. Im not to great with all these buttons on VirtualdJ so if someone could lay down the basics (or link me to a video that shows me how) i would greatly appreciate it.
I was also thinking of buying a Hercules DJ control MP3 for 100$, is it a good idea if I buy one.
Thanks
any responses will do.

The DJ control is a good starter unit but you will need a soundcard to be able to hear the music on your speakers. Once you have the controller it will be easier to understand all of the features VDJ offers. Did you download the free trial?

Welcome to VDJ.
If you are using a PC and not a laptop you may already have a built in sound card that is good enough to get you started.
All you need is a card that provides at least 2 stereo outputs. These are now very common on PCs.
If you intend to use a laptop then there are controllers which have the dual function of controller and soundcard built in. Have a look at the Products area of VDJ under hardware and you should get some idea of whats out there.
Have fun

Its strongly suggest that you consider the Hercules MK2 or the Hercules RMX..
Both of them have soundcard built-in, so you get everything you'd ever need...
With headset output, mic in, etc
And it might be at same price as Hercules Mp3 + a separate soundcard.
If you are to get a separate soundcard and the Hercules Mp3 controller, the Numark DjIo card or really any usb surround card (as you need at least two outputs. One for speakers, and one for headset)
:)

does the MK2 come with the VDJ software? Because it says the DJ control the one for 100$ does.

Yes, both the Mk2 and RMX comes with VirtualDJ (if you choose that..) Alternatively it comes with other dj software.
Check the box before you buy, what dj software is included...
Please note, that regardless of what dj software that is included, it will be a light version of the software.
But the virtualdj one is fully functional, no time limits, and most features are there ;)
You can even buy directly from here:

I suggest the Hercules RMX, it's a great controller to start off with and not one you'll grow out of too soon! You could easily rock a house party/bar or even club using one. The Hercules control MP3 is a bit toyish by todays standards..avoid imo.
Before you spend any money you should consider how far you want to go with DJ'ing...

I have the Hercules DJ Console and love it. I only use VDJ for home use (I'm a software dev now, haven't prof djed in years) I find the console very easy to use and a lot of fun.
I've run the software and hardware on WinXP and now on Win7 without any problems.
Hope that helps, or send me a note with specific questions
