Wow... I didn't realize 6.1 has been around for ages.
Have you tried 6.2? It was just released 10 minutes ago... go get it before they sell out!

only have experience on ehd staffy, all the info for vdj to read is stored on that, now when a new version has been introduced, you will notice that a lot of the information is missing in the browser, this will be picked up by vdj and you can see the count decreasing as vdj recognizes the files, to the right just above the browser line by the two bullseyes depending on the size of database, plus you will see the files in the browser info filling up as the count decreases, well thats what happens for me, might have a bit of the info skew wiff there but it is 2am.

The answer to your dilemma is that every time you make the slightest edit to a file outside VDJ you lose the file link, including but not limited to a period, so you will lose the link but not the file.
1. Go to the folder that you edited in from in VDJ (Left Panel Folders) highlight it.
2. Right click and chose add to search database.
3. You will find the edited file in your browser, then just delete the yellow dead link.
4. If the song is part of a saved playlist then you will have to replace it with the new file and resave effected playlist.
Good Luck
