For all club djs.....
Just wondering if there was any specific format for demos? Do i just record a demo and hand it to the club manager or is there some kind of formal way to go about that? Attempting to land a club gig for change. Any advice on a making a good demo are welcome! thanks!

You make a Demo audio cd (Not Mp3) of all the latest hits. Just mix it up like you are playing at a club. I have my own custom dj drop that i would throw in and then an effect. You can make a full 80 minute cd or You could also make a cd with 4 tracks. This is and Example of what i did before.. Track 1 Reggae.. 20 min mix.. Track 2 dance music, Track 3 hip hop, Track 4 Pop.. Mix it up and keep it fresh like you are making people dance.
If the club doesnt have a promoter, you hand it over to the owner. If there is a promoter, you hand it to him. Make many cd's to hand out to many different promoters in many clubs.
Make sure it sounds good. If you mess up making it, take a break and start over again from the beggining. I was very strick when i first started making cd's along time ago. There are many djs that dont care but i do. You never know who is listening and people talk.

Thanks for the advice caliente! I do like the idea of putting different genres on the demo, like a tenminmix for each genre. i mostly mix hip hop/rnb. i also like the drop-ins idea. as far as making a my own custom drop-in, do i simply record vocal and put effects to it?
again thanks for your input!!!!
