Hi Guys
I just moved over to Windows 7 on my test laptop (Acer 5720G) and cant seem to get the CPU to stop switching its multipler like Intel SpeedStep does. I have set the profile to high performance and minimum and maximum processor states to 100% but this has no effect on it.
I only noticed this when troubleshooting some DPC latency issues after ruling out the devices and using xperf (disabled each one in turn) and ACPI was the highest in the xperf.
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know of a program to fix the CPU speed in win 7.....
Thanks
Paul

I have found that some CPU's on Windows 7 can behave in this way.
I think there is a problem with some of the microsoft out of the box drivers for power regulation devices.

You could try using RMclock to lock the CPU speed.
You might find disabling the ACPI Battery device might help reduce the ACPI DPCs.
