Hi mate

Its a good idea when you start a Topic to continue your questions in the same topic (unless they ar majorly different to the origional). As each new post is added to the topic you have started it will go back up the list and so will be easy to find.

Did you see anything that interested you in the hardware section?

A basic starter system would comprise of a computer Laptop or desktop (PC or MAC as you prefer), an all in one controller (Like the RMX or Herc MK2), Headphones (So that you can listen and cue tracks before playing them), a microphone (for announcements) and a set of speakers with a built in amplifier.

Please let us know if you need any more help.

I've got mac looking at controllers not sure on which ones IDE like to start house and techno

thought the rmx looked pretty good but maybe something i could get from a store locally in Sydney looked on the herc websites and they don't sell hem in aus any Sydney eiders around

They don't retail them here that I can see so far might have to get on shipped the website in the hardware section guitarcenter etc only shipped America sorry for my spelling on my iPhone :P

Ok mate

What you could do is to start a thread titled and directed at other DJs on the forum from
Oz. Just ask if anyone from Australia has a source for Hercules products.

Do you have a minstream company in your area who provides DJ equipment and do they have a website that we can look at and come up with some other ideas from. You cant post the web address but if you let us know the name of the store we could find that and take a look for you.

Hi mate

Check out these guys and see what you think www.storedj.com.au . All the kit I have found so far seems to be very expensive and they do have a very limited range.

I don't think you should wory about putting up an aditional topic as the idea is to direct your question at DJs who are in Australia. Many of these DJ's will have encountered the same problem but may already have contacts that could help you.

Daz

BTW when you recieve your copy of VDJ remember to register the licence. When you do this your Forum status will change automaticaly.

I've had a look around the behRinger bcd 3000 looks about what I would need but I think it runs natively on trakor or serato might have to
flog vdj to a mate thanks for

You could do, but remember licences are non-transferable and he would not be entitled to any future updates.

Why not keep it for yourself, seeing as you've paid for it, and see if any hardware comes along new or second hand that you could use in the future. I'm guessing you've already tried ebay?

Many DJ's have both packages and interchange them as they need to. If you ever want to get in to video or karaoke, VDJ will be the way to go - plus you already own it!!! Remember you (as the purchaser) get FREE upgrades for life. So even if you don't use it now, you can come back in a years time and still be entitled to what ever release is available then.

Cheers,

Roy

Hi mate

Don't loose heart

I would not recomend the Behringer unit. I have the older BCD2000 and I file it under "It would have been great if it worked"

The BCD2000 and 3000 are supported in VDJ so if you went in that direction you could still use VDJ with it.

I noticed that the company I suggested to you do have the Numark total control which, Although an older unit now, is a nice easy bit of kit to use. You would need to use this with an external sound card (if using a laptop) but I think it is a nicer unit than the Behringer.

Just goes to show that you live and learn. I had no idea that there was such a poor range of equipment available to you guys/girls in Oz.

All the best with whatever you choose to do.

Thanks guys I'll think of the numark as a second choice I mayswell eBay a hercules to a mate in America and get them to ship it over and I'll keep my vdj safe :P

I've compiled abit of a list from what I can get the numark stealth, the vestex vc1 the reloop Dj2thanks guys again for your help there's just one more thing the skullcandy ti headphones good or not? Thanks again guys

Hi mate

The Skullcandy headphones are best discribed as "looking flash but sounding poor" one of the most important atributes a set of dj hedphones MUST have is a clean punchy bass response. These don't, the bass output is soft mushy and badly coloured.

I would suggest a few basic requirements. 1. Closed not open back.
2. Ear pads that fit over not on the ears.
3. Large diaphram size.

Have a look at phones by Sony/BeyerDynamic/Audiotechnica/Shure and Roland.

I use a pair of Shure SRH840's for djing and recording work and a pair of Roland RH200's for home practice. But all the companies I have listed make good Quality headphones.
