to get the hang of things buy yourself a Hercules RMX (its a mixer/controller & sound card, will allow you to controll your mp3s on your computer & scratch) , it comes with VDJ and as you learn you can always add turntables and or cdjs....

You can use any USB/Midi controller to start out with:
http://www.djstore.com/group/usbcontrollers.htm

If you're after value for money you could find one which ships with VDJ (limited edition/with an upgrade offer to pro), and also a controller with an onboard soundcard (with dual out to connect to an amp for home mixing, or a mixer for gigs).

The controllers improve with money, but the high end controllers don't tend to ship with VDJ.

ok ill buy the hercules RMX controller but when i do does it come with virtual dj or do i have to buy it..how much are like basic turn tables because im on a budget and can only spend up to 500-650$

The RMX comes with a Limited Edition version of VDJ. However, when you register your serial number with your user account on virtualdj.com, you should find a discounted upgrade to the full version.

This by far is the best way to go Pro and get your console at the same time.

Good luck and welcome,

Roy

I tried buying the Hercules RMX but it said "We're sorry, but Hercules DJ Console RMX DJ Controller is sold out at this time, or is no longer available. For more information please contact customer service." when it says no longer available do they mean att the time or there not available at all?

I think you should try before you buy, and compare it to other products within your budget.

You don't actually need turntables or CD players btw, these controllers have it all (and then some, sometimes), that's why it's important to be "picky" with your gear, otherwise it doesn't pay off.

Ask yourself how serious you are? And where you see yourself DJ'ing in the future?

Think about what kind of djs you enjoy watching.

Best Turntable on a budget Stanton T-80. No contest.

Rmx is OK for beginner, though you might outgrow fast.

For someone just starting out. One deck and a mixer is always an option. Especially in today's world of CD/mp3/midi players.

I would think about A denon deck that plays from USB and a decent mixer.
I've got all kinds of gear, and had everything, and I would still really like to have one of thouse Denons that plays from USB. that should tell you something.
