I love the two mics inputs

P.S. just wanted to say..

this is small example of the "little things" that manufacturers need to realize..

BOTH mic inputs are the combo XLR/ 1/4" inputs!
THATS PRO!

its a small thing I realize, but its something that sets this mixer/controller apart from 90% of the mixers out there!

If this thing had zone 2 balanced output (instead of just the booth output) I would be close to saying this thing is perfect. (design wise)

A lot of people/DJ's, some of which have been on this site before, had stated that they have had an influence on some of the products that have been released in the past couple of years. To be honest has left me questioning there professionalism! i.e. how difficult is it to fit the combo mic inputs you've just mentioned??? and rack ears even as an optional extra??? etc etc

The VMS4 has everything plus more. The RCa jacks for monitor is nothing. I had a Pioneer DJM 500 mixer with 1/4 inch booth out's and now my new DJM 700 mixer has RCA jack outs for the Booth out and i dont hear a difference with my 2 powered monitors.

Thats why i mentioned "Zone 2" out.. small difference but in certain circumstances it can turn out to be a huge difference..

Running RCA's just a few feet from your mixer to powered speakers.. not an issue, but 25' to 100'.. the RCA is not gonna cut it..

once again.. not a major need for all DJ's, but it would cost nothing extra to implement it, so why don't manufactures do it?

P.S.
question: when you had the pioneer DJM mixer.. Did you run balanced connectors and cables to your powered monitors? (did the monitors have balanced inputs?)

The powered speakers have 1/4 inch inputs and the DJm 500 has 1/4 inch outs for the booth and XLR for the main out. The DJM 700 has XLR for the main output and RCA for the booth out

i'm not sure if you 'got' what I was asking..

The reason I asked is; you said you didnt 'hear any difference'..

which is very possible with short runs of unbalanced cable.. The DJM 500 specs (that I could find) doesnt mention if its 1/4" outputs were balanced or not.. same thing would go for your powered speakers..
sooo, If you have never had a balanced connection to your powered speakers then you would, of course, never have heard a difference.
(and on short cable runs.. most people wouldnt hear a difference)

It was a short connection. 6 Feet

Has anybody heard a release date on this baby, I wan't to give is a spin =)

I think they are shooting for an April release. Hopefully it's April of this year. LOL
This will be my next purchase. And then maybe VDJ Pro if I don't like the Traktor software that comes with the controller.

Saw it on youtube looks cool. Mouse like the xponent and needle drop like the ns7. Nice. Would be even better if it worked like the RMX as far as an audio interface.

Please explain??? thought it did everything like for like and more

Hey Charlie. I was talking about timecode use. Does it have that capability?

$499.99 I hear. Any one heard different?

I got rid of my Hercules RMX, but like the look of this as it seems to have everything laid out & has the back-up in case of the inevitable crash & burn.

One feature no one is mentioning yet ........
Full analogue mixer operation if computer crashes..
First one to do that - seems like a no-brainer but no-one else does it.

AMEN & HALLELUJAH!!!

My RMX set-up has become my main rig. As much as I love it, I can barely stomach the risk that if the computer craps out, then the RMX has become nothing more than a $300.00 paper-weight. I mean really, why have a self-contained, all-in-one unit that won't support external inputs if the computer crashes? It's kinda like making a car today with no seat belts & no air bags. Sure, adding a Rane MP-4 to the rack would be the perfect answer to the risk, but then immediately lost are the small size & light weight, which for me at least, are 2 main features of the RMXs' appeal. It's frustrating; why have we, the end users, had to wait so long for what amounts to be a common sense design...and why is it that said design is only being offered by a mid-level company?

Regardless, I have to hand it to American Audio because they appear to be the only brand out there actually listening to what the end users really need / want. If the VMS4 can really be simply & accurately paired to work with Virtual DJ, then I'm all in!!! -Z-

P.S. The design of the VMS4 is suspiciously close to the what members of the Hercules RMX on-line User group identified as modifications they'd like to see included in the next generation RMX, ( http://www.herculesdjmixroom.com/en-us/forum/en-hardware/003861/ ).
Things that make you go hmmm.

Would have to agree... The only thing the VMS4 is missing is abuilt in SD card player for backup. Yes the VMS4 is a full mixer, but that implies you have something else to plug in to the mixer.

I to have fears about what happens if I have a crash with my RMX. However my AA Q-SD mixer has that all important SD card player that buys me the reboot time and yet doesn't take up any additional footprint...

Roy

The VMS4 release date is for June.. Not July.

Caliente,

That's great news if they've brought the date forward. My info came direct from ADJ in Europe. There again there is also the possibility that the European release date maybe later than the UK (not unsual - but god knows why...)

I'm just waiting for my local supplier to get one in that I can play with...

Cheers,

Roy

I think these are old placements... ADJ are no longer bundling with Traktor - They will be shipping VDJ LE with it. Therefore I wouldn't rely on these dates. There are sites in the UK also offering the VMS4 with and without Traktor but none with VDJ yet...

Plus over on the official web site at http://www.vms4dj.com/ there is the following newsflash:

28.04.2010 - VMS4 Release Date!
American Audio will release the VMS4 bundle this July 2010, worldwide!

Cheers,

Roy

That's it, I want one;

Vestax VCI-100, NI Audio Kontrol 1 & Hercules RMX for sale :-)

Oh, and a slightly damaged Faderfox DJ2 lol

Les,

Trying see if I ca get my local ADJ dealer to do a deal if I can get a few of us UK DJ's buy them at the same time. You in?

BTW, I'm keeping my RMX for my new home setup with my SL1210's ;-)
