Topic: Stanton T.60 Lag (A Follow Up From Another Thread)

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

If i could find the link to the other thread i made up about the lag from my decks when using time code. Iirc, i showed a video of Dj Am scratching and his turn tables had no 'Lag' and i was question why do my Stanton T60's get lag.

Anyway.....

I figured out that i couldn't really explain it well so today i took a video to help show you.

Please note, after the video was taken and the vinyl's were left "Side A" facing UP, there seems to be greater friction then the other side. This is with the wax paper underneath one deck too.

I still feel that i am having a lag problem still and what's more, because you can notice greater friction, its allot harder to back spin and even the gentleness force onto the platter causes it to stop (Though this isn't a problem, its something about technique i guess and i'll have to get used to.)

Please could you post your reply back onto the forum, rather then on the video, thus way the topic will all be in one place and will help other users in the future and stop confusion.

Thanks

It seems like to me that your turntable doesnt have enough torqe to get back up to speed or it could be the wax paper just being to slick. The thing I was told was that the wax paper was a slipmat for a slipmat, making it super slick almost to the point of being to slick. Maybe ditch the wax paper and get some Butter Rugs (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Thud-Rumble-Butter-Rug-Slipmat-Pair-102561016-i1322022.gc). Also I know what your sayin about the side A being slicker then side B. I always play with side A up. I would say just mess around with different slipmats until you find the 1's that work best for you. Hope this helps.

HI

Thanks for the reply

I have herd butter rugs before, but i thought a slip mat was a slip mat :(

I'm 95% sure, they have enough torque. (4.8Kgs iirc) The platter DOSE NOT slow down, its the time code vinyl that struggles to speed up instantly to the speed of the platter.

Any more makes anyone can suggest? I really want to get into say 'Mash Ups' making beats juggle, and the odd bit of scratching. I've always wanted to be much like DJ AM. But didn't know he existed untill i found him online.

Thanks, but i'll wait for some more replys/ thumbs up for butterz rugs before i purchase.

You wrote "its the time code vinyl that struggles to speed up instantly to the speed of the platter." which leads me to beleive that the slipmat your using is to slick for what you wanna do. Here check this out not all slipmats are created equal, http://www.skratchworx.com/reviews_slipmats.php. I use the "FROSTED PLATES" it comes with 2 different kinds of mats, a Butter rug and a Frosted Plate (which is like what you were using in the video, super slick).
Heres another, http://www.bestcovery.com/best-dj-slipmat-overall.

Thank you very much for your help. I think i shell go for the butter rugs. Upon reading reviews. I dont want anything too slippery. If i think it is a tad to sticky, i hell have to make a home made flying carpet or buy one somewhere.

I don't want anything too slippery. My current slip mats (Stanton's Own) are quite slippery (Without the wax paper). I bought my decks 3rd hand, so i guess the mats have came compressed and well used. The previous owner owned them for about a year. I looked to see if the platter ran flat and it did, i very much doubt the motor would be becoming worn as the motor only goes round in one direction and the platter is spun round by magnets iirc?

Many thanks for your help. I'll be purchasing a pair of butters rugs now:
