Hey guys.
I'm just having a little practice session over here and my left deck stopped working.
My right deck has full functionality but the left deck wouldn't play. It would highlight the play button as if it's on and let me manipulate the track manually with my Xponent... but it wouldn't just play the track.
I restarted VDJ and it's fine. But I wouldn't want to have to restart in front of people.
Is it something I missed?
Setup is a new/fast Thinkpad, Xponent, Zero4, and trigger finger w/ VDJ 6.whatever's new and usually VCA into Ableton but in this case it was VDJ by itself.
Any insight would be appreciated. I'm hoping it was just some button I pushed that I didn't know was there, or something.

Do you have a button to use an external souce? IE another cd player or turntable?
It it possible that you just turned off the left deck?

I don't think I do. I have 2 extra channels on the mixer for external sources so it would be redundant.

This is something that is always present in such applications.
VDJ relies on the underlaying operating system to be steady. I have had issues in the past with this and yes a restart will resolve it, but the built in crash gaurd is designed to allow you to crash out of VDj while allowing you tio resume very quickly. i don think this is VDJ fault specifically.
It would be good however if VDJ had the capabilty to fail over to a seperate instance of vdj in such events. i some times have a second session oopen for such events, so if oen crashes, i can start quickly a track on another session ( no good for broadcasting, but benefical for live sets

I usually have a backup CD in the CDJ just in case... Think I may start bringing my other laptop as backup.
In this case the right deck still worked, so i could have left that deck playing and started with another source... I don't think I would have been prepared for it live though.
