I have used the hercules RMX for about 6 months and enjoy it much, but ready to move on to something a little bit more advanced. I feel like its a pretty simple controller and was great for starting out with but looking for something with more options available to me. It seems that virtual dj is pretty high on the hercules for its compatibility but regardless I think its still a pretty simple mixer. Also I only really need something with 2 channels for where I am at as a still learning a lot dj. (have been djing seriously for only a year)
I'll have about $400-$600 to spend.
I've considered getting the Pioneer DJM-400 and just foregoing any platters or cdj decks(I don't have the money for both). I figured this could work since I am not really a "scratching turntablist" but rather just a DJ who blends electro and house music together. I guess if people think I'd be fine with just a mixer, recommend those too. Any advice or recommendations would really be helpful to me.
thanks,
-King Pin

What about something extra to add to your setup that you're already kind of happy with?

You could get something like this and use the pads to trigger hot cues and the knobs to activate effects like filters and flangers. And these are really cheap.
Also, check out the numark mixdeck if you fancy something with a bit more space and more controls

The Denon HC-4500 is fantastic and fully mappable with VDJ and has a dual channel sound card built in. Not sure what the USA pricing is but it's well worth a look.

Hi,
I'm kinda new to all of this and I'm looking probably for a second hand mixdeck or controller. I dont know which one it is that I want. I live in uk does anyone know of where I buy one from?
Broken spindle would love to buy your one off you, however I'm guessing you live in usa.

yea, i don't mean to sound like i hate the hercules. I've had my eye on the Vestax VCI-300 because I recently realized I'll have more money. I think it looks like a good next step up. Who knows though. I might stick with the RMX I have for awhile until I can afford a full professional Pioneer set. The VCI-300 jog wheels are really what has my eye. The RMX jog wheels is probably what I dislike the most about the controller to be honest. They are tiny and feel unnatural. And yes, I do have Virtual DJ Pro. Have had a few friends tell me to try out Trakktor but, I don't know. We'll see.

I have the Hercules RMX and do want to upgrade so I plan to upgrade to a Numark NS7 next month. I was thinking of still keeping the RMX for smaller venues. I've been having bigger gigs lately so I feel I need to upgrade.
