Hi everyone, Im a MOBILE DJ. Im starting into this, so I need to buy a pair of speakers for my parties.
I DO NOT HAVE ANY SPEAKER YET. I NEED TO START.
Can any of you tell me what active or powered speaker to buy?
What about the Gemini GX active Speakers?
What about Behringer?
Whats better? Behringer vs Gemini
Do the Gemini and Behringer speakers sound good and loud??
Please dont tell me to buy MACKIE, JBL, RCF because they are too expensive!
Lets talk about Gemini, Behringer, American Audio...
Thanks.

Really difficult when there is a small budget, just go with the best available to you at the price.
Personally I would be buying used in order to try better myself.

B-52's ... they come in a 1000 & 2000 series I believe, $800 for the 10" and $1500 for the 12". I've heard them, a friend uses them and they kick ass.... wood cabinets, not plastic. Cops were called several times for noise with just the 10" package. Only downfall is the sub weighs a ton and is a bitch to carry around, however its on wheels.
Gonna needs stands & cables as they dont come included... good luck!

B52's, behringer, Peavey, Cerwin Vega......ect. Are cheap speakers (meaning low quality) I prefer crisp and clean sound instead of loud and annoying. Many dj's think that because its loud that it sounds good and this is far from the truth. I recommend jbl (high end), mackie, Meyer Sound, EAW..........buy quality stuff, it may take a little bit longer to buy but you will have something that will last you a long long time. Just my opinion. Remember nothing lasts forever and if you are aware of your equipment's limitations and make the necessary adjustments and fine tuning they can last you the duration of your dj career.

+1 on buying used to get better gear. Gemini is crap, if you need to go inexpensive go Yamaha, Behringer or Peavey. Yamaha and Peavey both seem to last really well for lower end gear. Those Gemini's will break down on you in no time.

My experiance with gemini is not great, ran with a pair of GSM-1580's for a few years, while I had them I replaced the x-over's in them most of the tweaters and one of the compresion horns and I never over powered them!
I think another think to consider as a mobile DJ, as I am one my self, is the solidness of the unit, face it its gonne be thrown around, again the gemini's did not stand upto this.
I have recently got rid of the gemini and have bought my self some Peavy Pro 15's (MKII), I can highly recomend these, alot more solid than the gemini, more powerfull and the sound is crisp but punchy!! - you can pick them up in the UK for about £240 but If this a little too pricy you could always shop around to see if you can get the MKI's, they are practicly the same but some places are selling them off cheap to make way for the MKII's.

Unbelievable on what people think are cheap, I have owned a pair of Peavey SP5XT's for over 10 year that are unpowered and still kick ass. And best part, if they go bad it only costs me $60 per basket to have a like new speaker. I have been using a set of Behringer B215A Eurolive powered speaker for many years now as my main speakers and I love them. Have a third one that I also use as a monitor and that thing has taken a beating.....

I agree with DJECoast,
I own the B-52 Matrix-1000. I have had this bad boy for over 6 years now and have had no issues with this set up. The sound is good, and loud. This set up can work a small group, but I have done a party with over 100 guest with no problem. I have a Sonic Maximizer that helps give the system a fuller sound. Just my two cents!!

Thanks guys! Since I'm not living in US or UK, I cannot take a big system with me because I will be traveling in airplane. So I believe I'm gonna buy just ONE(1) active speaker. I might buy 2 speakers, but I don't believe it. Ok so Gemini is crap, but many people on youtube said that Gemini active speaker are good enough. I will be spending like around 350$ on speakers or one speaker cuz I will buy another thing if God wants :P
So forget the speakers packs cuz I wont be able to take it with me to my country. Just think about 1 or 2 POWERED speakers
But thanks.

humm thats a good one but too expensive! What about SAMSON and TECHNICAL PRO.
There one I can buy with no problems, it's the TAPCO THUMP(from mackie). This one goes from US$ 289. But I think this model is not so powerful. What I know for sure is that the sound quality is very good and clean, of course, they are from mackie. It's 15 inchs.
HERE IT IS:

But what about this one?? Seems to be the same but more expensive.

Dude... if your thinkn of buying 1 speaker alone thats crazy.
If weight is the issue have a look around at your different options. You may be able to get a powered sub with a pair of of small 8" horns to get the sound you want.
Problem with buying cheaper brands is that the inbuilt amp is alot heavier than the more expensive brands.
If your travelling the country I suggest hiring until you can get a decent set otherwise you wasting your money.
Good luck

So hire a system at the other end... It'll cost you less than the extra baggage charge for trying to take 'a' speaker with you!!!
