Without looking at the videos this sounds like a theremin. I'm pretty sure you can get them now to work with midi, etc so he could just be using it as a controller to control another effect. There are also quite a few synths which have them.

I used to have a thing called a Dual D-Beam Controller on my Sp808
That would recognize hand movements above the device and it tied in directly to the onboard effects.
They should make one of these available as a midi controller.
I used to have so much fun doing stuff with my hands that directly affected the FX.
The biggest problem was it was a big thing and difficult to take out live and I always wanted a smaller version.
It took a while to master but when u got it down you could do some cool things and it looked quite impressive.
Its a total novelty but something different from the norm.

the other one is called AirFX and it is more likely to be what i am looking for. AirSynth is more of an effects sampler. (doesnt work with the music signal but generates its own signal) whereas AirFX plays with your signal. There is a device by Korg - Mini KP - it is good as it combines these too but it is touch sensored.
Any others you know/found? If not, any ideas where I can find AirFX?

Its the ALESIS AIRSYNTH.you need a synth ocillators and "white noise" to make the wind sound, also good for techno LAZERS.the AIRFX might do it depending what type of sound you feed it.BUT a theremin plays a single wave sound resembling more like a Radio frequency Im afraid..

Where do I find a AirFX though? That is the problem... =(( Annoying!

TRY EBAY.COM allways good stuff there that you wont find at the local store.Originaly @ $149 for the AIr or the Synth, they went down to $99 so you might find one for a lot less.
