Question:

Do I need to scan for BPM to add songs to my search database? Is there an easier way?

I recently addedd about 4,000 songs to my external, they dont show up when I search for them. Until I scn the songs only then can I find them in the search field.

Thanks for the help.

It's a two step process. Once you added the files to your external HDD:

1. In the browser, right click on the drive letter under "My Computer" and from the menu choose "Add to Search DB" from the menu

VDJ will scan the drive and add any new tracks it finds. These will now be searchable.

2. (Optional but recommended) Scan for BPM's.

Tips:

1. Make your external HDD a Favourite in your browser - right-click on the driver letter as above and choose "Set as favourite" from the menu. Now a scan for new tracks is only one click away.

2. Always scan your tracks for BPM's as soon as you can. You will then know in advance what the BPM's will be plus VDJ will have analised the track for gain, automix, etc. Before you play it for the first time.

3. Create a filter along the lines of days since firstseen <5 and isscanned = 0. That way you will always be able to speed up the scanning process after adding new tracks.

Roy
