Topic: Mackie USB mixer : Sudden increase in volume.

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I've got my laptop Dell E1505 2 gb ram. I have a new mackie USB profx8 mixer. Last night, just out of the clear blue sky, came a loud increase in volume. I turn the main down to almost nothing, then opened up the little microphone thingy at the lower right of bottom toolbar. I had to just slightly adjust this up or down for the volume levels to return to their original feel. Then i could move the main fader back up to where it was.

Go figure. Any ideas or experiences we can share?

Ever happen to anyone.

anyone? please comment?

Only thing I can think of is a key mapping that may have maxed out your volume which you may have pressed accidentally...

This is really weird, but let me tell you what happened last night. First of all I am using a 2 gB ram E1505 laptop with a USB Mackie profx8 mixer, so sound is generated from the audio interface in the mixer and using the USB audio codec as the default sound card and VDJ set for this card as well.

Last night, while halfway thru the first song the volume cut out completely, I then turned down the mixer main volume, and turned off the mixer, then turned the mixer back on and sound was restored. Then I went to the USB port in back of the laptop and lightly pushed it in (although it did feel like it was all the way in anyway), but when I did do that, the volume increased to a real loud volume all of a sudden, so then I moved the volume lever (from the task bar) slightly up and down and the quieter level returned. Several songs later, the loudness increased on its own forcing me to repeat thie same procedure to soften it up. Happened maybe three more times and always at the beginning of a song.

What are soem things I can try, such as maybe a ferrite coil over a new USB wire (would this help)? Anything else anyone can think of.

First of all, try to run more tests when not at a gig!!! If you run tests at home you can log the changes you've made and see if a pattern emerges.

Secondly, have you checked the Mackie forums? Spoken to your dealer (if not bought online)? Spoken to Mackie support?

Do you have the very latest drivers? Again, check with the Mackie site?

Do you have a driver conflict? Try turning off/on other devices (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc) Do this as part of your home testing and log the results.

Are you sure you have VDJ setup correctly? I'm not familiar with this mixer, does it give you one or two stereo outputs?

There are a number fo things you can try, but if you're not getting much response from here, it's probably because noone on these forums has experience with that mixer.

If you can run your own tests and home in on the problem then that's a good start...

Cheers,

Roy
