Ok, VDJ Veterans...
I am in need of so many basic answers... Where to start... I cant seem to find any "sticky notes" on the Forum for basic set-up? If they are on here, please direct me...
Basically, I'm trying to get this equipment all config'd with VDJ... Here is my equip and specs:
Alienware M17X Laptop 64bit-Vista
(2) Denon Dn-S3700 Turntables & (1) Pioneer DJM800 DJ Mixer (in a coffin case)
Allen & Heath ZED12FX Sound Board
(2) Yorkville U15P main speakers and (1) Yorkville LS800P sub
Sooooo... I'm going to list my questions and hope for the best assistance i can get here!!
1.) What is the basic step to getting VDJ to recognize my DN-s3700's and DJM800? I understand they are"natively supported", but how do you initialize the Set Up?
2.) I use Virtual DJ on 2 seperate levels... I do a night of Karaoke/DJ where I do NOT bring the DN-s3700s and just plug in to the A&H board (Karaoke first half of night using Sax&Dottys software and then dance the second half, dance crowd is not expecting much so the VDJ software works just fine without the TT)... But I am scheduled to start doing a dance bar in the next few weeks where I will be using my DN-s3700s / DJM800 mixer...
Question: A.} Do I need to have seperate settings for VDJ for use with the DN-s3700s versus straight output from the laptop on karaoke night? DN-s has a built-in sound card that is likely better than my laptops, so I would likely want to use that? And then I need to configure the ASIO Driver with the DN-s? In that scenario, does VDJ have a config to change to ASIO Driver using DN-S soundcard? Could I easily change settings from night to night, based on the overall needs? Can I save profiles for each bar in VDJ so I could just select which profile based on where I am at?
3.) As for MIDI, my understanding is that the MIDI config of VDJ to be used with the DJM800 would be primarily for Video Output? Specifically the crossfader effects with Video? Otherwise, is there any benefit to configuring MIDI with the VDJ and DN-s3700? I would certainly be more inclined to use the controlller buttons on the hardware than try and manipulate the laptop for effects, etc. Can anyone offer any feedback on that?
Any other links to areas of basic information in this forum would be appreciated as well! Just trying to learn as much as I can and avoid spending countless hours trying to figure out the settings blindly...
