Hey guys I was wondering, do you think the ssl vinyl is tight for scratching with vdj? The tracking in vdj seems different to serato scratch live because it tends to sticker drift alot when scratching, and the scratch sound isn't as tight as wanted. Could it just be me or does this need to be sorted before another update is released?

If you use SSL vinyls (like me), you HAVE TO use absolute mode. It fixes most of the trouble you experience with those vinyls. Also the scratch sounds good for me (but i can't really talk from experience here, i'm not a scratch expert).

while on the subject, does the same go for the tccds? havnt tried my new cd players with the ssl timecode...
 
Haven't tried TCCD's yet, it might be. Reason to use "absolute mode" is that SSL vinyls are made for an absolute use. (SSL doesn't have smart or relative mode in Serato, so why would they make a vinyl that does anything more than absolute?)

Not true, they have REL.(you can drop the needle where ever and it still plays from the beginning).
 
Relative might be, but certainly no smart mode. I could attribute most of my cockups to VDJ's smart mode not working well with SSL vinyls.
 
It's a bit of a trade off though, if the needle jumps while scratching in relative mode there might be a bit of sticker drift, but if the needle jumps while scratching in absolute mode the track will skip seconds ahead due to the needle skipping to another groove in the vinyl.
 
Needle jumps are usually corrected by VDJ's anti-skip i think... Anyways i've never had it happen to me.

Lmao!! I've never had a CD skip unless I bumped the player or something to that effect.

Why do you need a 'staff' response. This forum is packed with all manner of DJ's that use VDJ in a multitude of ways.

Also, you need to look at it a different way. If no one has replied then there is less likely to be a problem.

People tend to be more vocal when things go wrong or don't work.

No News is Good News, as they say...

I'm talking about scratch dj's and stiker drift not using timecode vinyls for house,electronica and techno.


@Gadgetman you're right, I'm tired with persons talking smack always thinking that a rep from the atomix team have to address them, when alot of the times since we use the software we know alot. Especially NLU that come and ill talk the software. Let me say that I've ordered Ortofon carts which is almost here since I'm using stanton 680s at the moment.
 
Just a little FYI....I don't just spin house, electro, etc.....I also scratch and mix hip-hop/R&B/Rap music as well. There might be a slight amount of drift...but not enough to warrant bitching about the staff's "lack of interest/response" in a thread about.
